Forgive me if the answer to this is obvious but, what are the differences between standard Bongo basses and the DD2 other than paint, fretboard and inlays ? Is that it? I think they look pretty nice personally, but does the difference go beyond appearance?

Thanks,
Joe

Any of the Dargie finishes, (both first run and second run) are far superior instruments to their regular run counter-parts. There was a bunch of science done on them and they both sound better and play far smoother than the regular ones. Personally, I also think they sound better, but that's just me.

So are you saying the electronics/pickups are different?

Ignore him--he's apparently been huffing goofballs, which is not always bad. The Dargie 2s have an ebony fretboard and funky paint. The Dargie 1s have martini glass inlays and a silkscreen on the back of the instrument.

They have interesting stories behind the Dargie thing associated with the forum ("Green basses don't sell"). But, apart from limited numbers (and the aforementioned ebony fretboard), they have the same electronics and woods as their regular production counterparts.

The Dargies kinda begat the PDN limited window stuff.

I have a Dargies Delight Bongo 4 HH and love it. It was my first Bongo and it plays amazing! I love the ebony fret board on it too. It feels as smooth as glass when I play it.
