So I'm trying to decide on my next music man guitar between a JPXI-7 and a JPX-7. I'm a long time LUKE player, love them to death but I'm ready to write some heavier riffs so I've been looking at these JP 7 string guitars. It's impossible for me to try these guitars here because the guitar center near me never has them in store.. *facepalm* my question is, coming from someone who loves the feel of a LUKE, which guitar would feel better to my hands between the two being the JPX and the JPXI. I've only ever played a sterling JP100 and I loved it. I'd easily make the shift from the V shaped neck to the thin neck on the jp but that JPXI has a 20' radius! wow. The luke only has 12' I believe and the JPX has 15'.

Anyone have any advice for me?

Thanks!:D

I'm keenly waiting for a response to this one also. I've been leaning toward getting the JPX, simply because of the smaller radius, but every review I've read from JPXi players, are glowing. Personally, I don't think I'd be disappointed in any of the JP necks, but because I tend to play Hendrix style riffs occasionally, I think the JPX would lend itself more to being able to reach with your thumb. Could be wrong, and hope someone with actual experience with these two can make an educated comparison.

Yeah plus that JPX color is just sexy! I love it.Yeah I do a lot of hendrix style riffs as well but I'm just ready to get a heavier crunch sound. I've seen some guys set there JP6 up in a low tuning but where theres no good techs in my city it's kind of hard to do so.

I've got both the JPXII 7 w/ 20" radius and JPX7 with 15". I personally prefer the feel of the 15". The 20" on a 7 feels wide and super slender. The edges are quite narrow as well whereas the JPX7 has a nice rounded shoulder on the top side of the neck. I feel the same way comparing my JPXI to my JP. Same neck radius differences and I definitely prefer the 15". My $.02.

I personally prefer JPX neck and the jumbo frets. I used to own JPX but now JPXI. I love their wood combinations but I prefer the solid body(unchambered) of JPXI. Sometimes the neck feel too thin for me though. However, it keeps me extra cautious.
