Are these guitars heavy? I'm thinking about getting one. Is it worth the extra $$$ or should I just get a regular jp6... Maybe I should just wait for Majesty? Thoughts???

The PDN's aren't noticably heavier than the regular versions (maybe even lighter). At least that's my opinion (based on PDN Y2D vs. regular Morse).

It all depends on what you like soundwise, the mahogany will give a somewhat different tone. But I'll let the PDN JP owners give their opinion on that..

I have a pdn axis and I think it's a bit heavier than the normal. I may be wrong, because I have not weighed it. I just thought since the pdn jp guitar is a bigger body it may have some extra weight to it.

I find that my PDN Honeyburst Axis is the lightest and loudest unplugged Axis I have. The body just resonates and projects the sound so well. More so than it's normal Axis sublings.

My JP Koa (which has a mahogany body) is noticeably heavier than my others. Not a boat anchor, but it has some more heft.

Thanks for the replys. I'm going to hit up just a regular jp6 tomorrow. I found one in stock that i like. I like the mahogany thing, but since the normal jps have stainless frets I think I'll just go cheap on this one. I don't know why, but for some reason I just really want a JP guitar. I got rid of mine years ago, but now that they have stainless I would like to use one again. I remember these guitars being a really good low action shredder. I don't shred, but I still love guitars that make it easy for us weaklings. If it all goes well I will post pics and photoshop a really cool top on it with bfr inlays! :) yay!

THE PDNs are african mahogany. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that. African mahogany is a completely different animal. Its very light and has a completely different sound than traditional south american varieties. African mahogany guitars are often lighter than even basswood.

Correct, the classic honey burst PDN package was an African Mahogany body with the roasted neck

Good information guys! Maybe if I can work a deal on this one I'll get the mahogany. What an incredible run these were! I'm hoping sometime in the future musicman will consider doing the macassar ebony(top or body)! :) I like it when they switch up the woods! The rosewood axis being my favorite!
