I can totally see where the seller is coming from. I cannot imagine ever wanting to own a guitar with a flag on it (not any kind of flag). But if I won a valuable guitar with a flag on it, turning it down would be downright stupid. Stowing it away because selling it would be "unclassy" would also be pretty stupid IMO. So what would I do? Sell it of course, for the highest price possible. That's the rational thing to do.

Look....it always hurts to give a guitar away and then see it for sale...It happens 90% of the time with promotional guitars...I hate doing them...but....distributors and third party companies think its a great promo. You just get over it...Id rather see it in a good home where it is appreciated.

Thge worst is with endorsed artists....they beg for aguitar and three months later their dentist/bailbondsman/crack dealer has it on the bay.

I always thought of it like this. The odds of the person who really wants that guitar winning it are slim. Perhaps they would pay any price for it. I would be glad to have the opportunity to obtain that one of a kind guitar and keep it forever.

Thats pretty funny stuff there pops, you forgot ex-wife or ex-girlfriend.....................................................

I won a guitar once, would never sell it because it's a FREE guitar, model I would probably not buy, but mainly because it's a special moment................

Congrats! As BP said, the important thing is that the guitar gets appreciated, played and enjoyed! Seems that your going to be doing just that - enjoying it. I also agree that most of the giveaways I've seen end up on the seconday market. For the exculsive giveaways, this does create a win/win: A chance for the winner who may not want it to sell it, and the buyer to acquire a guitar to be appreciaed instead of put away somewhere and forgotten about.

Exactly. It is at the luthier at the moment having the nut cut and general set up. It will be used and loved. I am considering changing the hamburger for something a bit hotter. Someone suggested a suhr doug aldrich. I was thinking maybe the dimarzio crunch lab. I'm not sure what is in there as stock it's a bit weak for my taste.... I'm just worried about taking the pick guard off in case any paint comes with it......
