I was wondering if it would be possible to put in the same kind of pre amp into my jp6 basic that my Luke3 has. I really prefer using the boost on my luke3 as opposed to using pedals for solos. has anyone ever tried this or anything similar?

MM doesn't sell the preamp in the Luke, but there are a ton of preamps/kits out there you could use to build something. Can't say I've ever seen anyone do it, but I think it would be a reasonable project.

Sure (and that's pretty cool). But you'd be kind of on your own as to how to fit it into the cavity, wire the pots and install it.

Soon to have a badass preamp! can't wait! The boost on my luke 3 is so usable, I have to have it for my jp!

My guess is that this was a question of warranty replacement that was not in the end necessary thus requiring the return of the new part. Either way, it's a matter strictly between Billy Carr and CS and seems to have been resolved correctly. Nothing to see here, move along.

So, home-brew preamps...

A basic clean preamp is very simple circuit and I'm sure that one can be built very cheaply and easily and installed in any guitar. The Tillman preamp (linked below) is only 7 components. A bit basic and limited for our purposes but can be built very small. There was even a variant of this that could fit inside a cable jack plug! Tiny!

Could we somehow develop a little forum electronics project? Anyone interested?

Thanks guys, just a slight misunderstanding on my behalf. I was unaware that preamp was supposed to be sent back originally, problem resolved, thanks for all the advice.

You have to admit though if you have ever played a luke3, that boost circut would be desirable on any guitar. pedals for boost always seem to be to crispy, or muddy. I plug right into the amp with my luke3, so easy.
