I just recently contacted a MM rep who was extremely helpful and quick to respond to my request for having a Luke BFR or III in an amber, honey or cherry burst finish on a quilted maple top. They don't currently offer these or other custom finishes on the Luke models and do not have a custom shop department in general to facilitate these requests. Just wondering how may of you had inquired as well for these same type of options. Check out these beauties. I would whack up my credit card for sure to have one. It's all about having your dream come true. I would place the order and wait a year if I had to. All black or gold hardware would be a nice option as well. MM... the time for this type of service is long overdue.... please.

This is a common request that has been answered quite a bit and Music Man has always responded with a 'no'. As they often like to say, "We build guitars for artists".
The most echoed response from us fanboys is that every Music Man guitar or bass is a custom guitar!

Yep. This question has come up every year without fail since the forum began. The answer is always no. Heck, they've just added the Armada and the Majesty and will now be producing amps again, so I don't see a new production line for custom shop being added any time soon. :D

The only way to order a custom guitar is to become and EBMM artist. So start practicing!

BTW, both of those guitars were available to the public.

Most appreciated...Should you ever see one available in your travels please let me know. That amber one is just gorgeous. By the way... back in the day, I was part of a team that customized MM amps for Aerosmith and Parliament Funkadelic up in Boston out of a music store called EU Wurlitzer. Those amps were great sounding and real durable work horses on the road. I hope they can enter into the market with something relevant and fresh - something that will set them apart similar to when they first entered the amp market back in the day.

The one on the right was the 2012 PDN special edition, I think that particular one was bought by a forumite. The one on the left was the prototype BFR Luke (2007?), they made a very limited run for the public. Rare as hens teeth so start networking your Japanese collectors. :)

Welcome to the forum!

A custom shop would be awesome, but yeah EBMM has repeatedly said no. However, the next best thing are the PDN offerings and often they come up with "special specs" that we are all craving. The 2012 PDN Honey Roasted package is the guitar on the left and one suck offering. I am sure that something will come up that knocks your socks off... I just hope it comes when I have the money!!!

I bet a part of the reason there is no custom shop is that it would only be able to thrive on ludicrous prices. Also, they might have to bump up the prices of all their other guitars in order to afford themselves a custom shop. A part of MM's appeal is that they produce custom shop level quality for great prices. While many of my peers would not call 1,600 a great price, for the quality, the real guitar players are seeing other companies sell their guitars for close to 3,000.

What is "PDN"... private dealer network? How do you find out when they have PDN offerings?

Romania ...that's a country ...in Europe :))
they are lucky to have fanatics buying their "artist guitars"
because business is alive because of them, the artists are getting them for free :)

Artists create tools that the public can choose to buy. If they didnt sell guitars there would be no purpose in creating them for them for free...think deeper.

WE already offer over 120,000 combinations...thats exhausting as it is...

When you have two whole days to burn search custom shop! thanks

Agree and I am currently in the market for a custom. Probably wouldn't be that much different from the JP13 model, but I agree that you pay more to have exactly what you want.

I hope it's something that can come sometime in the future. But at this point, it doesn't look like that will be realized any time soon. Customization is very expensive-- especially in a factory setting. It's far more efficient and far less costly to make the same models over and over again; it's cost accounting 101. But if enough people are willing to line up to pay for those custom models, then it could be worth it!

who needs a custom shop??? EBMM is a custom shop!!!

@BP:
120.000 combinations? wow, but could you offer 120.001 options?
this extra option would be choosing between a regular birdseye-maple neck and a roasted birdseye-maple neck.
so all my upcomming guitars would have a roasted neck :)
