While I like the round/oval pickguard, I've always loved the teardrop one on the Stingray 5's.
If I am not mistaken, the SR5 pickup covers are glued in and are not replaceable or interchageable like the SR4s.

What grabs me about the classic is the pick guard. I really really
love my 2005 sr5 but I have never liked the pg. I dig the classic
with the standard shape it looks like my sr4 but is a 5er.
I don't think the neck would bother me, plus they are gorgeous !

Pickup covers, not pick guards.
OK, 2005 SR5 .... well, thaz really a Sterling 5-string, so today
you can solve the dilema that you could not solve in 2005. You
can buy a Sterling 5-string, which is simply a 2005 SR5 with an
oval PG. No need to spring for a "Classic" just for its oval PG.
Erm, body shape i just a bit different (gross understatement)...
