Silhouettes could cover a broad change due to the HSS or HSH pickup configuration.

It can be for any genre with the right pickups. From the factory it is vintage voiced.
Do you prefer 22 or 24 frets? (I'm assuming 24, based on your love of the JP model).

Yes 24 frets. I was wanting to grab one in hopes of achieving more of a David Gilmore sound.

That would be more of a silo special I would think with 22 frets.

I love my silhouette. It totally whoops up on my Fender AmDlx Vneck when it comes to playability and clean tones. I would say, don't be discouraged by the humbucker in the neck position, it can totally snag blues, jazz, rock, what have you. It is not great for anything chunky, but that is really just a matter of super-sizing the pickups. My rosewood necked Silhouette is ripping, very comfortable, and very resonant.
