After my band got a new PA system, I can't hear anything but drums and bass. I thought about getting a floor monitor but since some gigs may be space-limited, I thought about getting a wireless in-ear system. The more that I thought about it, I figured that I'd look into a wireless system for my guitar as well. Last time that I looked, there were complaints about signal loss. Admittedly, that was many years ago.

Any experiences and recommendations on either the in-ear monitors or guitar wireless systems?

I'm using a Shure SLX series (use two) in my rack one for each guitar in a setting where we run 5-6 wireless hand helds and 5-6 wireless in ears plus my wireless packs

i've had no signal loss at all...

Line6 . I have the Relay 30 which I am quite happy with but if I had it to do over would go with the Relay 50 due to its external antenna

These! I have been using Shure wireless systems for over 20 years now. Briefly went with another brand that sucked and am now back with Shure again.

I regret that I am unfamiliar with the work of these gentlemen. Should I make efforts to seek it out?

Danny Gokey was on American Idol a few years back and just coming out with his second album. Coffey Anderson is more country/pop style. Both are Christians and a lot of their stuff is faith based and oriented (especially Danny Gokey) so if that is offensive to you then probably not - but if you don't mind good music as a whole then yeah i'd check 'em out. Coffey is a great guy and i enjoy sharing the stage with him. Very much like a jam session with him - let it go and ride the lightening is his saying to me...

Thanks! It looks like the SLX is for mics or am I wrong?

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

they have two systems and they use the same packs the difference is with the instrument one you get the 1/4 cable and no microphone and the other you get the mic setup and no 1/4 cable.

and fully interchangeable. i can pick up a mic and it will talk with my setup no problem - my father in law is a sound engineer and we tested it so it works :)

Thanks for all of the info! Ok, Shure and Line 6. I was actually looking at the Line 6 G50 so I'm glad to read your positive review.
As far as in-ear monitor systems go, can they be set up with multi-channels through one box? The Shure says that it has two channels but I'm not so sure what they mean by that. My singer is also interested in an in-ear setup but we both want to hear different instruments. I just want my vocals and he wants to hear my guitar.

I have the G-50 and it's been great. I had the G-30 and the battery door broke the first day I had it. The plastic construction on the G-30 transmitter is cheap in comparison to the metal housing on the G-50

I've found the Electro Voice system to be reliable and good sounding.

There's one going on ebay with a low reserve.

Link please? I'm not sure which one.

I have a line 6 xds 96/x2 system. It's digital which everything has to be per FCC requirement now. It's ok. You do have to be sure nobody else is on your channel. I've had that happen and one of you is going to go away..... I paid $200 new. I expect they're cheaper now as mine is 2 years old.

When you say that "It's ok," is that because of the signal issues or the sound quality is also lackluster? I'm not sure how many signals there are going to be as two of us will be using in-ear monitors and I'll be using the wireless for guitar as well.
At this point I'm 90% sure about the Line 6 G-50 for my guitar.

I would stay as far away from Line 6 as possible. I briefly switched over from Shure and all my wireless did was drink batteries and then went out after the warranty expired. Went back to Shure and have been problem free for 2 1/2 years now.

I've used a Line 6 G30 for the last 2 years without any issues.
The other guitarist in my last band had a G90 (rack mount). Again no issues

Which Shure model (SLX?). I'm going to use rechargeable batteries so I'm not too concerned about that (unless we're talking less than four hours of use).

Thanks! I really appreciate all of the replies. I'm waiting for my tax return to fund my wireless setup so I still have time before buying.
