M-Steel :)

Finally got to try a set of M-Steels last night. It was too late to try them through my amp (will do that tonight), but they do feel great unplugged, similar to the cobalts, but the wound strings seem smoother to me.

I too have tried the M-Steels recently on my Silo 30. They feel even more LIVE than the cobalts. More output (believe it or not) and more attack. I'm considering putting a set on my Reflex but I really like the sound of the Cobalts so I will probably just keep it as-is.

I just picked up a SBMM AX40D and I think I'm going to restring it with the M-Steels right from the start. The question is do I go with 9's or 10's? The 10's are my gauge of choice and have been for years. Any issue with putting 10's on it?

Im finishing up my 3rd week playing the M-steels (9's) on the JP. Before that I ran through a six pack of the super slinky 9's. I notice a lot more output, plus they feel softer. All around they are a lot more fun to play. Playing staccato using the pick is (a la Paul Gilbert) is definitely more expressive also. Pinchies are louder, crisper, and sustain longer as well. Worth the money IMO!

After a couple of weeks & one show, the M-Steels are definitely the real deal. I still have several sets of cobalts to use, but I'll be going w the m-steels from now on. They have more girth to them, but also more clarity, & the wound strings definitely feel smoother to me under the fingers. Great strings!
