Please, I need help for a possible buy for a Van Halen signature red quilt. The guitar do not have the original G&G hardshell case, but a Music Man gig bag. The owner says that the Van Halen signature, was produced also with two options about the case and therefore he has the gig bag. I think is wrong because I have not found mentioned options on the internet, neither pics or other stuff.

Can anyone Help me?

Thanks in advance

I remember when you could order the EVH new...gig bags were available. I actually have one. They are the sort of triangular shaped gig bags like Gibson was using at the time...but they are shorter...so they are a perfect fit. They have the EBMM logo on the accessory pouch.

I am not 100% certain if you could order your EVH without the case though. The dealers likely had to order each guitar with a case...but gig bags were available. It is possible that some dealers were willing to sell a guitar with gig bag only.

Later on over the years I have seen a couple for sale that had only the gig bag.

The MM gig bags were made by Levy's (I've got one). They're nice for general use, but not the most durable.

Doesn't sound quite right that you'd pick either gig bag or case, but to be sure you could ask the customer service folks ... link is in my signature.

That said, unless you're a die-hard collector, a case isn't a big deal. You could always buy a used or new one that fits the Axis/EVH perfectly (and maybe negotiate the seller down a tad).

Yeah, at the time a lot of dealers would get the bags and offer the customer the choice. I know I snagged a case or two this way when I was buying and selling EVHs... Glad those days are over!!!!
