Such a great amp, really diggin' it!
The only second hand 212 version of Express 5:50 I've managed to find in the UK and god bless the guy who sold it to me for nearly half of the shop price, like new and fully flightcased!
Still having my JVM head but thinking size wise and what this baby does...well... seems a no brainer which one to keep:)
Cleans are best I've ever heard, so sweet and chimey, perfect company for my Balls and highly recommended guys!

5:50's are great sounding amps. My main gigging amp is a 5:50Plus head thru a Vertical Mesa Recto Cabinet with a Mesa C90 speaker on top and a Vintage 30 on the bottom.

Congrats!!!

I've played an express a few times. In fact, it was the only boogie left in the store and there were tones of other brands and this little thing was the only one that satisfied. Love those Mesa amps. Enjoy it!

Congrats on a great amp! I used an F-50 for awhile, which led to that series of amps.

Nice catch, enjoy it! Can't go wrong with a Mesa. I have F-50 and it's one hell of an amp, have to try Express some day. :)

What kind of sound does that amp have I have a Mesa dc 5 head that I'm on the fence about , my jvm combo is the one that always gets used but it is really heavy. Was looking for another mesa eventually if I end up selling the dc5 head

Congrats! Love those amps...
I got a smokin' deal on a TA30 last year (thus, my first Boogie...) and it is easily a step above all my other amps...

ENJOY!!

Thanks for all the kind words guys!

Congrats on the amp! This would go nicely with it.
Mesa Boogie Five Band Grahic EQ Pedal

Won't fit on my pedalboard :) In fact, there's a contour knob on front panel that turned clockwise works like a classic boogie v-shaped eq setting and this can be activated from footswitch. Great for playing rhythm and disengage for solo.

If you like jvm for classic and modern rock sounds, power and ease of dialing a good sound then express has it all.
What it differs in from jvm is a far more superior clean channel, beautiful reverb, 5W pure class A mode, footswitchable contour (go to a scooped rhythm sound and back to more midrange with a click of footswitch).
What I don't like is a crappy footswitch and lack of side handles. Otherwise very happy with it.

Mesa + MM is a combination made in heaven!

I'm actually starting to believe that :)

Dude what case did you get? Is that a Gator? I'm looking for a ATA Case for a 1x12 Combo! I appreciate your feedback!

I just got a 5:50 express a couple of months ago. Best amp I have ever owned by far!

Anyone ever try adding an overdrive pedal before the amp with the crunch setting? So powerful. I'm really digging that for some of the 'grunge' covers we do in my band: STP, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, etc...

I had an express 5:50. It was a pretty sweet amp, my only complaint was the the clean channel had a lot of bass, the dirty channels seemed to not have quite enough bass. All the channels sound pretty awesome, but found it hard to dial in a good balance between the two. If my electra dyne poops out on me I'd consider using one again. Has anyone tried the express plus? Looked like the same amp but with a better eq control.

I have both the Express 5:50 PLUS (head) and an Electra-Dyne (head). I prefer the clean channel on the Express and the gain channels on the ED. The Express PLUS were re-voiced from the original Express to be closer to Lonestar's.

I have the F50 and recently developed a horrible crackling noise. Dropped it down to my amp tech mate and we just changed the power valves to a non Mesa Boogie brand. Problem solved and what a difference - the amp is no longer sounding quite so glassy (I play mainly with SSS guitars) and has really mellowed - it's just great!! - Wish I could remember the make valves we put in !!!
