I had to retire my old Ibanez Blazer blue guitar so here's the blue replacement, Steve Morse Y2D with Floyd Rose tremolo. Three gigs so far, fun guitar, done some recordings as well as it's a super-versatile guitar, indeed.
It's indeed a very interesting guitar. I needed another floyd rose heavier guitar as my Ibanez RG750 is showing tear and wear with the blades and I should have taken it to my tech but it was a good excuse to get another Music Man.
It's somewhat heavier that other Music Man guitars but in a good way as it's part of the sound and structure of the guitar. Been recording modern Brit rock with it the last three days -- the kind of simple chords repeated with some synths bubbling underneath. Hardly any need to re-tune it during the recordings which is another bonus.
Yes I have my own private trick to make the fretboard more 'slippery' with new guitars, call it waxing (like waxing a surfboard), using Fast fret on the fretboard itself. The neck is now nicely slick and easy to play. After a while the fat from one's fingers will also make the neck more personal.
But no, I'm not using a slab of meat (like Neil Schon is supposedly using to make necks more slick.)
One cool thing with many Music Man guitar color shades is that based on the stage lights they reflect differently so the same guitar could look different based on angles, the light sources and so on. Me likes that!
