Hello ebmm friends,
I've noticed many of your NGDs are guitars bought from Guitar Center in US.
Can anyone tell me how to buy their used stuff online? Can't find any option
to add used item to cart, only 'contact store' links, that's it.
Do I really have to ring the store to arrange purchase?
I emailed them already, few days later and no response.
Don't fancy buying over the phone as it leaves no evidence
and is difficult to claim in case of any problems.
Many thanks for help here.

Yeah, you have to call. I've bought several "used" items from them. A couple were not "as advertised" so I took advantage of the 30 day return policy. May be harder to do from the UK? I usually tell them how picky I am and make them send pics and have them closely examine the guitar. Hope this helps.

That one, I'm not sure of? I seem to recall someone paying with paypal, but not sure as it will probably be at the discretion of the sales manager. If you apply for the GC credit card, it's 12 month financing, same as cash(no interest). Not sure if this is an option in the UK, but it sure is nice to pay $100 or so a month. Good luck!

Yeah, seconding Ozzy with the pics, as I have done the same thing many times. Usually they accommodate requests for pics too, like if you want certain angles or close ups.

Don't know about PayPal, sorry.

There's a used gear site, go there, it's updated daily. I've found it takes days, sometimes a week, sometimes never, to show up on GC.com. I've emailed through the used site, sometimes they respond, sometimes never -- call the store.

Used gear is used gear, some is immaculate, some dinged up. What matters is: what they tell you, and that all comes down to the sales guy. If u find something you like, buy it. They will always take it back, and if they misrepresented the condition, you will get your shipping cost back.

GC is a great place to buy gear, they have great prices, and tons of stock, and they have tons of EBMMs.

I doubt someone could purchase from the used.guitarcenter.com outside USA. You could try... Otherwise it's a great service, 30 days, if you don't like it, take it back to closest GC and only pay for original transportation.

Yeah, I know about the website, been on there and emailed the store - no response as I said.
Anyway, called them an hour ago and had a chat about the guitar, pics already on my hard drive.
Still waiting for them to confirm the final amount including shipping and import charges.
Hope they won't spoil the whole thing ;)
Thanks everyone for advising.

I've bought twice from GC's used site. I got my 25th and my cab.

Both times had a great experience. No paypal though.

One of the times the sales rep sent me a link with the product aranged at the agreed price and I proceded online. The other time I had to call but they send you an email confirmation and the order is added to your account.

Request as many pics as possible. I live abroad also so gotta make sure before that the gear you're buying is in the state you want, and avoid any nasty surprises.

Thanks Ozzy for helpful info. Can you pay with paypal or is card the only option?

They dont take paypal. I tried to purchase from Australia and the only option for international payments is via wire transfer direct to their account. Oh yea and the freight charges are astronomical for international, up to $500 to Australia, and they only use UPS exclusively. That being said your very lucky if you live in the usa..

They really need to up their game with the used stuff on the GC website. The pics and descriptions are for the most part terrible!

True with that. Descriptions are very brief and one pic per item only.

Hey six strings..., what are you looking at?.

Axis SS with trem and piezo.

So far was quoted an estimate of $300 for shipping to UK, that's expensive!
I imagine once import charges are confirmed I will have to pass on it.
Shame I have no friends in States I could ask to buy it for me and ship to UK :(

I had a pretty rough experience when I was ordering a bass from their online used section. I saw it on the website, called them up, ordered it to the nearest store so I could pay cash and trade in some things against it, and was quoted 3 or 4 days to ship. A week later I head into the store looking to pick it up and they have not had any used basses ordered to that store at all, no idea where my bass is or anything. Luckily enough I ordered it to a Guitar Center that I know has awesome staff and the manager gave me the used price on the same model brand new that they had in stock.
