Have been enjoying my silhouette for a couple of months and just really wanted the versatility and customization of the GC. Almost pulled the trigger on the Majesty, but reconsidered because of the wider neck. I have had a Wolfgang (and Special), Axis (briefly because GC sent a "like new" that was all jacked up), and still play a Parker radial. Playing the Parker and Silhouette interchangeably convinced me I need to stay with the 1 5/8 nut. And I wanted to be able to dial in custom voicings: if the technology is available and works, why wouldn't you? Such a brilliant approach.

The neck feels to me like a hybrid Axis/Silhouette, which means not much of a difference from the Silhouette. Only played once, but it felt great (maple neck, though I almost went with rosewood for a tinge less bright sound, but in the end my ears can't discern much of a difference and I already play a maple, so if it ain't broke).

One question for the crowd that knows: how does the active setting affect the pickups. Is it a clean gain boost, or is more like overdrive that causes clean sounds to break up as well? I'll know soon enough, I guess, but just curious.

You can read an official statement here:

The Gamechanger

I'm glad you ask this, though. I've never tested the active/passive setting on my Game Changer. Guess I've got some homework for tonight!

It's a buffer, so you wouldn't expect any volume boost at all.

Basically with a long cable run, you'd notice less high-end roll-off with the buffer engaged.

Thanks for the responses. Brilliant inclusion and love that you don't have to worry about it changing your tone.

So, the guitar did arrive today, but it was a not-new guitar when it was supposed to be new. I've pulled two MMs out of the box new and know how they are shipped. Notwithstanding, it was clearly not new, though almost immaculate. I wonder how often they get away with doing this? Anywho, it's going to be rosewood for me now. Those are on order until next week, so I know the last folks to touch it were the same that built it.

Hey Wahoo-- no pics, your new guitar doesn't exist... :)

It doesn't. GC1 is already back in the box from whence it came. I don't know why vendors do that. Will post pics when the real GC is in hand. Maybe some HD video. Thanks again.

At least you're getting rosewood now. Another happy ending! Enjoy that baby when it arrives...

Just got a HSHP rosewood trem a couple weeks ago. It has totally over-delivered. Great axe that will be a gigging workhorse.

Almost have my banks figured out. It's bewildering but I've already hit on some great usable sounds that I didn't have before.

I already have a 25th...amazing axe...but there's some thinner single coil-ish tones it doesn't do well. The GC has literally millionz of those thinner strat or tele tones. Really a great guitar, especially for a geek like me who doesn't mind tweaking and editing on a computer.

Definitely like tweaking. I'm thinking my tweaker 40 with the GC will keep me busy way too late at night.

Do you use your ipad? I see this funky setup on the GC ios splash screen that looks like it might be a combination GC and midi control with an out to the amp. Can't tell by looking at it what is actually going on.

Definitely like tweaking.

It starts getting pretty addictive on TGC. I find I have 3-4 that I always use, but other 6+Z are fair game! For example, a while back I took out the 1s5, but lately I've gotten the itch for that sound. And the comments about single coils are making me want to go back and revisit some phase options. How fun!
