Hey forum, has anyone ever attempted to change the fretboard on a JP6 with dot inlays to the JP shield and bullets.

I have a mystic dream but really hate the dots (when I bought it I wasn't fully aware of this variation). Can Music Man do it in the factory?? Or am I royally screwed and stuck with these inlays??

Thanks for the info.

I'd venture to say you're stuck unless you replaced the neck. Too much work would be involved me thinks.

Call customer service and ask them. I'm pretty sure that however a guitar left the factory is all they'll do with it but it never hurts to ask.

Another option is that there are good luthiers out there who can do custom inlays for you. Could be a great opportunity to do something really different and personal.

That's a really, really good idea. Remember how well this came out?
