JP6 vs majesty playability

I have a quick question as i will be ordering a jp6 online, I played a majesty a few weeks ago and finally found a jp6 in a store this week. The majesty played as easy as could be but the JP6 was very tight. they both show 10-46 strings standard and were both new. shouldnt they feel about the same to play. Is there any way the trem could be tight or loose on one and make string bending easier or harder. I have been playing a 25 inch scale non trem with 10-46 for years, the majesty felt the same but the jp6 harder to play. Am I missing something?

Different spring setups might have caused that, I know some JPs come new with 2-3 springs depending on when they were put out. My JP's with 2 springs feel looser than the 3 spring setup for sure, all preference and something you can easily change/adjust on either!

The JP6 has smaller frets, take this into consideration too.

If they're tuned to standard tuning, the tension will be identical because the spring tension needs to balance the tuned strings, so two springs would have the same tension as three if they're balancing the same tuned strings. Any difference you think you may feel is purely imagined.

It is curious though - I think the configuration of the springs would only come in to play when it comes to tremolo, flutter, or dive bombs. If they're all focused toward the bass end of the bridge, I imagine those techniques might feel/react differently from if you had more or less springs all focused toward the treble end. I dunno. I don't care enough to experiment lol.

FWIW, I did email support a while ago because I felt my Maj didn't flutter as well as other guitars. AJ recommended a variation of the springs (2 instead of three, arranged in a V shape) and there was no difference. It is what it is.

Personally, I think the only reason there's multiple springs at is so that there's not a bigger (deeper) cavity for a singular giant spring.

I recently switched from the factory 3 spring setup to the 2 spring V setup on my JP6, and it made a world of a difference. It shipped with 10s from EB but I switched to 9s as soon as I got her home while retaining the 3 spring setup. I've been having some issues lately and customer service recommended the 2 spring configuration like you mentioned. Nothing in my setup changed expect for the spring configuration; same gauge and brand of strings. Much looser, flutters are noticeably longer in duration, large bends are like butta!

I know the Maj and JPs are separate animals, but on my JPs it's night and day difference.

Springs are not all the same. Some could be stiffer than other springs. Try different springs. This has affected me before and using different springs until it got to the place I wanted helped me.

Yes, tension is always the same. But when you bend a string, you are counterbalancing a bunch of things together. Different guitar models have different responses to string bending. It has to do with string break angle and, more noticeably, with the kind of bridge. Nice article here for starters: Guitar strings tension

@Etudica - I'll defer to your anecdotal evidence. It made zero difference for me, but my Maj is a 7-banger, so I think it naturally has less flutter.
