I would like to change the master volume of my 1991 MM Stingray 2EQ.
Which one should I take on Ernie Ball UK website (I live in France)? what are the references for both volume and EQ pots (I bet they are different)?
As you can see on this photo of my Electronic I want to replace the left pot that has beel replaced by a bush pull by an original volume pot:

Thank you for your help

You have a 2EQ preamp that has been modified (original but messed with).

The quickest, cleanest and cheapest way to do things is to replace it. But you also have to give your exsting preamp back to EB. They are relative cheap compared to what you see on Ebay.

Email Customer Service for advice on how to do things. There's a dude there called "A.J." who hangs out around here :)

Best.

P.S. Oh, and welcome to the Forum.

Thank you Rod,

The preamp has not been drasticlly modified. Previous owner has only installed a push pull pot to switch between two positions: Humbucker and single coil (in addition with the 0,022uF orange drop capacitor).

So the mod is very simple to dissambly provided I can find the regular Volume pot.

I don't intend to buy a preamp if I can find the proper period correct pot. I should add that I'm an electrnic engineer, then it's not big deal to fix once I have the spare part.

Is there a way to order that single pot on Ernie ball uk website ?

Thanks a lot for your precious help and quick answer.

Lionel (Happy to be a MM Stingray owner and a member of this famous forum)

You should be able to get it on the UK website or contact customer service. It's a 25K Linear.

P.S. I should add that there are two types....pots where wires are soldered to lugs and circuit board mounting like the other two in your pic. You need the circuit board mounting type.

Just out of curiosity, why don't you want to keep the extra tone option provided by the very useful modification? Many people actually like the single coil sound of a sterling as a different color at times.

If the modded pot still turns the volume down in normal operating mode, being active it can't have a tone improvement by replacing it with the original pot, so I don't see anything to gain besides the knob looking like the other 2 when you're done.

I'm honestly just asking, not judging :)
