Bonjour Simus,
your English is just fine. I believe OLP is not longer making Music Man licenced basses, so you may not be able to date your bass. There once was a Yahoo group devoted to OLP basses, so you might try a search over there. Enjoy your new bass and start saving for the SR5. Nothing plays or sounds like a Music Man bass.

I know that Steve's Music in Montreal are Ernie Ball dealers and carry a good selection of Music Man basses in stock.

If you visit here Ernie Ball ® Music Man ® Dealer Locator you can type in your postal code. That in turn will give you a list of EBMM dealers in your general area. Just be sure that you choose the Domestic dealers, not International.

Good luck,

TD

Hello

I saw diferent headstock text in a lot of OLP bass. Some with serial number, another wirhout serial number.

All genuine OLP bass has serial number?

Which is the correct position for a serial number?

Thank you

I wouldnt worry too much about olp basses being original or fake. My guess is that if someone would intend making fake guitars they would make fake musicmans. Because olp's are too cheap to make a good profit on. Olp is allready a "fake" musicman so this would be making fakes of fake basses. Its like building a strat and selling it as a squier while you could put a fender decal on it and make alot more....

Thank you "sandhermans"

I understood.

But, does anyone have information about which is the correct position and the correct look and feel of the Headstock OLP Bass manufactured until 2007???

Thanks a lot

Something that needs repeating every few years.
It's plainly printed on the reverse of the headstock
on every OLP Musicman copy that I've ever seen.

I won't quote the exact phrase cuz it's become
waaaaay tooooo obvious, over the years, that no
one seems able to read and understand what it
says [in very plain wording] on there, so here it
goes in even more very plainerer wording:

"OLP pays EBMM a licensing fee so as not to get
sued for duplicating the APPEARANCE of EBMM's
headstock onto our OLP products."

Thaz what it says, and thaz exactly *ALL* it says,
and it says nothing more, at all. Period. Full stop.

--------------------------------------------------

Okay okay, gotta admit that OLP seems to have
intentionally muddied the message by spreading
the 'news' that "OLP" actually means "Officially
Licensed Product". And add to that the helpfully
cheerfully woefully ignorant staff at certain large
retailers, and you can see how lotsa peeps think
that OLPs are essentially SBMM SUBs but under
a different, earlier, logo.

Got it? OLPs are toadally unrelated to MusicMan
products in any way, shape or form [except for
the 'shape or form' of the headstock]. Yes I do
see how the rest of an OLP ax also looks like an
EBMM. I'd guess the law only awards a builder
proprietary rights to the headstock, IOW that it's
no crime [technically] to copy a body style.

Just to clarify, so things don't get muddier. OLP is in no way shape or form related to Sterling By Music Man (SBMM), and are completely different instruments.
OLP was a brand owned by Hanser Holdings International (HHI), based in Cincinnati, OH, USA. They were produced in China through late 2006.

Sterling By Music Man is owned by Praxis Musical Instruments in Orange, CA, USA.
We manufacture all of our instruments in Surabaya, Indonesia.
SBMM consists of Sterling By Music Man, which targets the $599-$899 USD Street Price, also referred to in the industry as the "Mid-Price Range", and the Sterling By Music Man "SUB Series". SUB Series targets the $199-319 USD Street Price, which is generally acknowledged to be the "Entry Level Price Point".

Just a bit of clarification.
All of the SBMM and SUB Series instruments ship from our facilities here in Orange, CA.
