Happy Holidays and Happy New Year, everyone!

For the past couple of years I've done a fun thing that most of you I think enjoyed, and I thought I would do it again this year. Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date... So, as a fun holiday thing, let's launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day leading up to New Years Eve!

Before we begin: In the past I've received PM's about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. :) When the question came up during my NYNGD posts ringing in 2013, I gave a pretty detailed and well thought-out answer, so please check it out here!

This year I was my usual GAS-prone self and again bought too many guitars. Some new, some used, all EBMM (OK, except one mint 1986 Steinberger GL4T that I also launched in my Guitar Gallery today).

The first one is an Axis in a gorgeous yet understated Pearl Platinum finish.

I bought it because I had never seen this finish on an Axis and felt it would make a great sibling to my Pearl Lavender and True Gold Axis guitars. What I ended up with was one of the best sounding Axis' I have ever played (and I have played, er, own a few). This guitar sounds STUNNINGLY warm. I've tuned it down 1/2 step and then dropped-D (technically dropped-Db) the low E-string. Play Unchained on this through my rig and it is 1981 all over again. I get the chills just typing it. It's that good!!!!

I'll be back tomorrow with another NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Day!

Thanks for looking everyone!

We DO enjoy it Jeff! Of course your collection is absolutely insane, I drool everytime I think about how many killer guitars you have.

I love that pearl lavender and have been looking for one. I'll find it one day.

Keep 'em coming!

That's a very nice collection.

As for the number of guitars you own, I look at it this way...How often do you think Jay Leno drives each of his cars? If he has some he hasn't driven in a long time, it's not a bad thing. There is tremendous aesthetics on these items...both the cars and guitars.

Curious, how do you store them?

Thanks for the kind words guys! I am looking forward to sharing some cool guitars this week!

Yeah, the Pearl Lavender is pretty sweet. VERY SIMILAR to the Platinum Pearl in vibe/texture, except the Lavender is, well, pink.

Wow, if I had Jay Leno's cars I would probably give up all my guitars.

I keep the guitars in the storage room in my studio (not at my house) in their cases. I have room for around 20 hanging on the wall in my studio, and the rest stay in cases. Every month or so I rotate. There are a couple that stay in the studio all the time, and there are a few that always stay in their cases except for maybe 30 min of playing now and again. On some of the others that I post this week you'll see live shots of me with them (including a PDN Neptune). These are not case queens (except maybe the super rare ones and my EBMM EVH's are pretty much spending most of their life in the storage room).

nice one Jeff can´t wait to see more
btw inspected your collection. I was aware that you have ALOT Axis´/EVH´s but cool is also that you may have one of the biggest silo collections, not less than 15 silos! Nice ;-)

I think one of my favorite part about these threads is the fact that we get to see something a little more unusual and not so traditional, and on that note, even your more traditional items are the cream of the crop! Best collection ever!

Thanks for the kind words guys! I'm glad you guys are digging this. I think it's fun and it's good for me to kind of look back on the year and process things -- not just the guitars I bought but every aspect of life. Sometimes life is moving at 100 mph and it's good to stop and think things through. Like today's NYNGD that will go online soon -- I didn't realize what a milestone it is for me until I wrote it up for the Forum!
