Hi,

I just received a new PDN neptune blue JP7, it is a fantastic guitar (a proper NGD thread with pics soon to come).
But I noticed these light spots on the fretboard right next to the frets, especially at one spot there is a lighter line and I am wondering what that is and how I can get rid of it.
Here are some pics:

Did anybody else who got a PDN neptune blue guitar with a maple fretboard notice this on their guitar?

Could this be glue residue? Or could it be a scratch that happened when the frets were installed/crowned/leveled?

Thanks,
Lars

I just inspected mine thoroughly. The lighting wasn't the best, so I used my flashlight. It looked similar to yours, however, I think I determined that mine was a reflection off of the stainless frets. Either way, If I have to "put it under a microscope" to discern this, I'm content with mine.

Thanks!
It might look like a reflection of the fret on my pics, but it is definitely not a reflection, and this spot is not on all frets, actually it's only like pronounced line at one fret which is the one on my pics. And in my case it is well visible.

I agree. I can't find any spots in mine. Not quite sure what you got there, but I wouldn't really worry about it. Call customer service if it really bothers you. I know they'll help.

Not me.... But, just being honest, I'd be a little miffed.... even if it is "harmless", which I agree it is.... but I'd still be a little miffed.

Thanks for your input.

I may be too nit-picky, but I often notice tiny little imperfections like that and my OCD will kick in and those imperfections start bothering me.
I might be the only one whom something like this bothers...

I may not be that bad.... For example....

There was a thread started a while ago where a guy got a guitar with a tiny ding in the headstock. He contacted the store he bought it from (think it was guitar center here in the US), and they offered him 2-300 bucks... And I advised he take it and enjoy the guitar. Dings happen, played guitars don't stay perfect.

I would say the same to you. If you love the guitar, figure out what will make you "ok" with the glue and execute (which may be no action at all).. Or send it back. Just my 2 cents.

I said I'd be miffed.... I didnt say I'd send it back. :)

The problem with perfect guitars is that they become imperfect at the first gig and then it's just downhill -- how it should be, guitars are to be played.

My PDN came the same way--those are definitely scratches. I sent it back to EB/MM and they took care of it.

Originally, they were going to sand the neck, but then they made me a new one. My understanding is that they'll take care of things on a case-by-case basis. Everyone at CS has always been awesome, just contact them.

I talked to CS and they said this is wax and it should come off with a razor, but I'm too scared to use a razor, afraid to scratch the fretboard.
I wiped the spot with some lemon oil and that helped a bit at first, but after a while the spot seemed to come back, maybe I need to apply some more oil.

I wouldn't add more lemon oil. The razor is a good way to go. It'll do a great job. Just go slowly and carefully. Any tiny scratches you won't even notice after a little finger grease build up and if you ever clean your fretboard with steel wool, you'll probably remove any last traces. It's all good.
