Question Looking at LIII OLIVE GOLD: All ROSEWOOD Neck. Need Input!!! FIRST EBMM

Hey guys,

I'm obviously a newbie here... have been dying to have one of these and just found the forum a few days ago. I was prompted to spring into action because I have a buddy who is wanting to sell his LIII HSS. I'm in such a quandary because I have wanted one of these for so long, but have always looked specifically for the HH Model.

Two things are pushing me to buy this one even if it's not the exact thing I wanted (that sounds crazy, even as I say it...) I have noticed these are not "simple to find". The solid rosewood neck, specifically in the Olive Gold... That has always been the the one for me... so now i'm just hesitant.

It has a small nick on the headstock... wood not dented but finish is chipped... very small, but still there...

Also, from my perspective I can get a KILLER deal on it... what would be an appropriate price range for this guitar?

I'm with you all the way on the guitar... the big hold up in theory is the pups.... I've always picked the HH versions for tone when they were in my hands...

Do you play on the neck pickup often? I have a Silhouette HSS and find position 3 (inner coil bridge and neck pickup) to be a very satisfying, thick tone. I don't play much gain/overdrive, though. If that is your style of music I'm not much help there.

Ask yourself if the HH configuration is essential to your playing or simply a preference. These are excellent guitars and if the price is right, the colour is right...woot!

Honestly, I almost always play on the neck. I even switched out my pup on my tele to a Fat Mini H.... just a warmth thing..

Also, Got to meet Luke this summer prior to a concert... even that night it seemed he had the HH versions in his hands much more than the HSS versions.

by the way, was a great birthday gift from my kids... Luke was the nicest guy. never forget it.

I will say the neck pickup in the SSH can take gain very well and is very quiet. It might really surprise you. They are both (SSH and HH) killer.

Everything I have is HH except for the Silo Spec. What I find is that the HSS config inspired me to play out of my comfort zone. You can always pick this one up and do a HH Luke 3 for your next EBMM... Trust me, there is a reason most of us around here have more than 1 listed in their signatures.

I'm glad I made you laugh but I was serious.

I bought mine cause I had great deal on it. Second hand for 1500€. Two month old, still had plastic protections on it.
I'd have thought it was knew if I hadn't beeing told.

I bought it for the price, to give it a test, while waiting for my PDN to be finished. Knowing that I could easily sell it.

BUT...this guitar is going nowhere, it'll stay!!! I've since sold my Eric Johnson strat, my Les Paul Classic, my Parker Fly Deluxe and my Tom anderson Hollow drop top. All high end guitars. I do not regret any of these! I have them all in one guitar.

Let me insist : GO GET IT!

The Olive Gold/All Rosewood neck LIII HSS model is killer. Definitely one of my favorites.

I played Luke's here and there for a while and finally picked up the exact guitar you describe. Got it on a GC clearance. I am amazed how versatile the guitar is.
