Stolen MusicMan Axis Super Sport

Hi guys,


It was suggested I post over here from the EBMM Facebook group. I gave my EBMM Axis Super Sport to my tech yesterday while he was at a recording session here in Los Angeles to set it up to my preferences. Last night as he was loading gear out of his car into his home in the San Fernando Valley someone stole it. I am heartbroken. As soon as I played this guitar I fell in love. Here are some pics as well as the serial number. Please help me find it!! I'm scouring eBay and Craigslist and my tech has contacts at all the local Sam Ash and Guitar Centers in Los Angeles.

Sorry to hear about this, but like others have said call the police and make a report, and i do hope you get it back, also does the person who did the setup have insurance, as it was in his possession when it was stolen that his insurance should pay for another one, or have him replace it, friend or no friend if it got stolen while in my friends care.. i would make them pay for a new one.

The good news is that you will be able to find another Axis Super Sport that is every bit as nice as the one you just lost.

What bugs me most is it's not like it was my iPhone. I can remotely wipe the iPhone and go buy an identical one. But a guitar is something you bond with personally and although I can find another Axis and I may even find one I like more. I'll likely never have this one again.

So frustrating.

Ernie Ball contacted me back with their condolences and said they'd keep an eye out for that serial number. I'm going to make up fliers today with pics and the serial number and pass them out during the week to local pawn shops and music stores. It's about all I can do.

A really nice brown leather Levy's strap was in the case too. Heck even the MusicMan case had value. So ticked off....

that does suck. Sorry to read this news about the axis. I'm not sure what goes on behind the scenes in customer service, but I could only hope and imagine that there is a way that the staff can flag stolen music man guitars by serial numbers in the database. They have to turn up at some point, even the prototype JP15 that went missing at NAMM. anyway.. dude, I hope that your Axis shows up soon and that you get it back.

Your best bet is to go to every Pawn Shop in the area it was stolen from, do not ask about the guitar in general and act like a customer who is looking for something high end, also slowly go into how you are into highly figured tops. If you go in asking if someone brought in a top shelf EBMM SS with a highly figured body and neck, even if they have the guitar in the back they are going to play stupid! As they know you are asking about a guitar that was stolen and the owner will be out whatever he paid for it. If it was a junkie that nicked it, there is a very good chance that is where it will eventually wind up and in todays world a Pawn Shop is the safest place to bring something 'hot' for someone getting high. A lot of Pawn Shop owners are very savy when it comes to guitars and will usually take a high end axe like that home with them. On the flipside you can't expect every Pawn Shop owner to know if what he is buying is hot, so I am not here to bash all Pawn Shops. But a lot of them know who is an addict that comes in on a regular basis. Good luck on getting it back though I honestly would think of the worst and hope for the best.

I may hit up some shops Saturday. Good advice about being discrete! My husband is a fairly well known drummer and I posted about it on his fan page with an ad targeting Los Angeles that hit over 45,000 people. The tech who is also a musician and luthier shared it on his bands page too so the word is out.

The JP15 was introduced at this year's NAMM show.
