I'm profoundly irritated to see that I found a forum on this website talking about Elixir strings. They cost three times more than most strings. So, because of the price you buy cheap fast rusting terrible sounding strings instead.
This irritates me, because unless you are playing guitar 4+ hours MINIMUM a day it is no wonder you don't realize that Elixir strings not only will NEVER rust, but they never harm your fret board like other guitars. Slinky, cleartone, Dadario, ect. all start rusting with 5 minutes to a week. Usually Cleartone lasts about a month sometimes if you baby them. When I buy a set of Elixir strings I buy 11's. I've tried 11's of every brand of strings you can buy and they all suck.
Elixir strings:
1.) never rust
2.) they feel better on fingers. It is almost like they are softer
3.) they literally harm your fret board less than any other string
4.) They do not break as often as other strings. I will put 600 hours into a pack of elixir strings and the only reason I exchange them EVER is because I have stretched them so much over time they become tight. It is one of the FEW STRINGS you ever have that LAST SO LONG that they start to feel tight from being stretched over time.
5.) They pay for themselves
6.) They literally sound better, but unless you play a lot you probably don't have an ear for telling the difference in strings.
I'm just really irritated with people and talking about strings on this website. If you don't at least have 10,000 hours of playing guitar in you are not aloud to make a judgement call on strings what so ever. That is the minimum marker in which I would ever listen to an opinion on this matter. Otherwise you are just giving Elixir strings a bad name.
I have a steinberger Trans trem (the $1600 newest version that they stopped selling) and I literally wish I didn't buy it only because they don't have elixir strings that you can put on this guitar. You have to buy other fast rusting poor sounding strings. I have only tried 2 brands so far so I can't judge yet. I have to try La bella first. It is my last hope. Double ball strings are hard to come by that are calibrated specifically for that guitar so you have to bite the bullet and buy bad strings.
