Here's the thing.....

I want the LIII. I've got HSS guitars, and I think the HH setup with the boost and Transition pups would add variety to my lineup.

The LIII neck looks so cool roasted.

But I love Blue Pearl. However the LIII is only offered in two colors.

Would it be possible to have one made in Blue Pearl? Everything else could stay the same. Just send one LIII body with the Luke bodies when they paint them BP, right?

Is EBMM flexible like this? Or do they prefer to stick to their color charts?

I totally understand if they can't do it, but it's kind of a shame that the LIII is only offered in two colors......

I doubt you will have a chance to get a LIII in Blue Pearl, unless you refinish it yourself.
The only chance on a different Finish would be a PDN Limited Edition.
Music Man is sadly not too flexible with Custom Options, unless your an Endorsed Artist

I wouldn't say Blue Pearl would be a color but until the AL came out with the two humbucker format it wasn't a strong seller for the company and there weren't many color options offered. Once the double Bucker model came out the guitar started selling well and has gone threw a lot of color options. Since the Luke-III was released it seems to be following the same trend and a lot more players are into the guitar. I would just about guarantee that after the next NAMM the Luke-III will be offered in quite a few different finishes so just be a little patient and see.

>Hey buddy, i know what you think, i was in the same if not worse situation. I really wanted a dargie delight luke, but as it was a ltd edition, not a chance, especially in France..
Get yourself an L3 used, maybe with some scraches.. and let it refinish. This will cost you $200. I did it with my olp luke. Painted myself the dargie delight-, ive just let someone do the clear coat as i have no paint cabin.

Check it out : http://forums.ernieball.com/music-man-guitars/60912-project-olp-luke-dargie-delight-conversion.html

Best of Luck!
By the way, if you want the paint, go to House of Kolor. i am pretty sure EB buy the paint there - alsa paint spectra FX for the dargie delight 2 - or stardust color for the most exotics ones.

Thanks for all your help.

I was hoping for a better answer. I guess I'll have to decide if I want the color (Luke) or the HH Db boost feature (LIII). I guess I was just hoping I could get the guitar I wanted in the color that is offered in a different model.

I would rank the desired features higher than a color.

Go for the Luke III...there's always the option of having Marty Bell or someone refinish it for you.

I officially endorse Pat Wilkins guitars. He's one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Very affordable, also.

I used Pat for a bass refinish a few years back. Absolutely flawless job.

Mystixboi- That sparkle finish is off the hook!

LA Bryan lol, going to have to use that on this thread at the moment as Tollie's name is Bryan. Everyone here knows how you feel but EB run their company as they see fit and we have all wanted a certain guitar at one time or another with a certain finish it wasn't listed in.Because there is no custom shop if you stick around long enough you will see it really is no big deal as something really cool always happens each year. The wildest tops, necks and finishes I have on guitars are all on my EBMM guitars. They may be out of your price range at the moment but I just looked at the BFR Lukes and there are some wicked finishes on those bad boys.

I saw the BFR Luke and that blue they offer + a quilt top is beyond belief. However, it is out of the budget I gave myself for this purchase.

I have decided to go with the LIII in Bodhi Blue. I figured you can always change colors, but not features. Plus I've already got a HHS guitar with EMGs so I can avoid redundancy.

I also like the roasted neck which the other Luke doesn't offer.

I'm a little bummed that EBMM can't honor little requests like a color change when it would only be an issue of putting a LIII body in with the regular Luke bodies to get painted. I'm not asking for a unique feature set or anything.

But I'm not gonna get hung up on that. It's an amazing guitar and I'm happy to have one on the way.

Yea man, I've been off the radar since the forum went to sh1t one or two times ago lol. Life is good, married, kids, house... not much time for guitars/music these days. On the upside, I've sidelined the ESP's for these fine pieces. Pointy headstocks and Floyds are cool and all, but the Luke delivers like none other. You gotta make one happen for yourself!
