stereo seems to run thru the buckers and piezo separate and mono runs them thru an onboard mixer, which is active, hence giving the treble a slight lift (at least from what you guys are describing).

and i'm not sure there's alot that can be done to change that because changing to active pickups is a hassle given everything inside is wired to a PCB.

bonez, may i suggest you contact colin @ Guitar Planet - Contact us

he's a forum member from oz and a music man dealer as well, maybe he can hook you up with something useful.;)

I could be wrong about this, but I think you've mischaracterized the outputs and the switches on the JP. There is only one toggle with a bridge position and thats the normal magnetic pickup selector. The toggle on the top horn only selects magnetic/ magnetic & piezo/ piezo. As for the outputs, the output nearest the strap button is for the piezo, while the other is for magnetic or can be used with a TRS cable to output both magnetic and piezo signals.

If I plug into the piezo output with the top toggle in the magnetic position, I get no output at all. If switch to the middle position for both magnetic and piezo I get piezo and no magnetic. Switching the toggle to the top position still get piezo only with no difference that I've noticed in tone.

Likewise plugging into the magnetic output with a non stereo cable I only get magnetic output regardless of the position of the top toggle.

I typically use my JP with a TRS cable into the magnetic output going into an EBMM splitter box that I got from Pete DuBaldo. From there I go to my normal rig and my acoustic amp.

I know this is a really old thread, like 7/8 years old. LOL But what the hell, I searched and this came up. So here goes. I am plugged into the piezo(the one nearest to the guitar strap button. And I have nothing plugged into the magnetic. With the top selector switch in the up position I'm in piezo mode, in the middle mixed. And down I should hear nothing, but I do hear a darker clean sound when switched in Magnetic. Is this due to my cable possibly being a stereo cable? I'm kinda stumped here. I'm not sure If I have true MONO, or STEREO cables. All I know is the cords have a 1/4" plug on both sides. LOL My main worry is what if all I have is stereo cables, and I plug 2 stereo cables into the guitar at once. Like a stereo into the Piezo(like I think I have now), and my other cord may very well be a stereo cable too, will that cause any damage? Two stereo 1/4" to 1/4" cables plugged in at the same time? Is my guitar possibly being weird/or damaged? I could of sworn when I used the piezo on this guitar last time with the magnetic everything was working great. It might of been the same way, but I had distortion in the magnetic. So if I switched the switch down in the Magnetic mode, I might of just been disguising the sound of the acoustic amp. This is the first time tonight that I have only plugged a chord into the piezo and left the magnetic unattended. Any advise why I might be hearing sound from the Acoustic amp when the selector switch is down in the Magnetic position. Its supposed to be silent. I don't want to do any damage of course. I have the Stealth Black JP6 BFR.

Thanks,

Tommy

You can run two mono leads out of the JP6 into two amps. One will amp the piezo, the other will amp the mags.
Just google images for Stereo jack plug and here's what you come up with
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=s...ChMItfPGw4yAyAIVxFsUCh17Hg_v&biw=1920&bih=975

Then google images for mono
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=s...bih=975#safe=active&tbm=isch&q=mono+jack+plug

See the difference?

This is very useful too
;)

Once you have established that you have "two mono leads plugged in", and you still have problems, just contact Customer Service and they'll sort you out.

Thanks for the suggestions and the links. I am using a MONO plug, that makes me wonder a little more.

I always run my guitar with two amps. The magnetic output from the guitar to my EVH 5153 50 watt. And my Piezo with a separate cable to the Roland Acoustic 60w amp. Then it sounds amazing. And I can switch between the two or play them together.

My question was: When I unplugged the chord that was plugged into the magnetic jack on the Guitar to the EVH amp. Then just plugged in the Roland to the piezo plug on the guitar(nothing plugged into the magnetic jack on the guitar at this time). I could switch my selector switch on the guitar to the magnetic position(Down) and I would still hear volume from my Roland. Isn't it supposed to be silent? Right?

No, when you use a single mono cable in that jack you will have both the piezo and magnetic signals available to the same amp.

It's good to know, thanks!!! I had just recently sent my JP6 BFR back to MusicMan for a few of the Piezo saddles to get replaced. And just wondered if there was another issue or not.
