JP 8 strings in development !!

I hope JP uses it on "The Astonishing" (which is the title of the new DT album, see on their FB). I'm wondering if it will be a Majesty or a JP, also what the scale will be. Pretty sure we'll get some news since NAMM, the post on redit is already 5 months old.

Exactly! I actually love 7-string guitar, but there is just something about the 8-string guitars I've played where I just feel like it is overkill for some reason. Maybe it because that low F# just feels so bassy. With a 7-string the low B is powerful, but it still feels more guitar than bass, but not with that 8th string, at least for me. Still, I am excited to see how an 8-string JP will look. Love the JP guitars.

Really hoping the show something at NAMM. I own a JP6 and JP7 and looking into an 8 string for fun ideas. Prolly gonna go the cheap route at the moment and get and Agile and wait for the AMAZING JP8 for next year.

One month away from NAMM and still now news. I was hoping for BP to come over and tease us a bit. It stills early to say, but I remember BP said the new models in development wont please the shredder, so I'm wondering if we'll get to see anything at all.

That's fantastic news. Let's hope it feels like a guitar. Plus I wonder if there will be some sort of trem system of they ll go with the fixed bridge. Exciting news nonetheless

Yes. In the same way that I picked up the 7-string while writing the Awake album, I’m planning on using 8-string on the next DT album. The prospect of an even further extended range is really exciting to me!

BP confirmed it again recently.. It looks like it's happening sooner than later if John plans on using one on the next album.

BTW, I am so excited for this. Once one is avail for sale, I'm on it. I love my RG2228 loaded up with lundgrens . Once the JP8 is out (BP, even a prototype that finds it's way to Dubaldo's, etc.) I'm so on it.

I saw in a recent interview they are touring for The Astonishing until March and they'll hit the studio after (may he a short break between). So I guess there wont be any 8 strings releaved until NAMM 2018 :(

...or may be BP will tease us ;)
