hi. I need help in the identification of the instrument. Is that original stingray or a fake? Is it correctly that the text isn't black?

The model number is 130-70-20-02. It was originally shipped with the case, warranty registration card and Ernie Ball Music Man stickers. Hi - I still have a black Stingray with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard with 2 eq, purchased by me from new when I was 18. That means I'm pretty certain it was a 1987 model. I bought it in a place called Watford in the UK and I think the shop was called Hammonds Music (?). The serial number on the bridge is 25453. Is there any more information you have on it such as the DOB? Thanks.

This one is definitely a pre Ernie Ball bass. Unfortunately our serial number database didn't come around until we took over the company in the late 1980s so we don't have information on these. There is usually a date stamp in the neck pocket and pickup cavity that will give you an idea of the production date. There is also a great reference website to compare serial numbers, SERIALS Pre-EB - Musicmanbass.org, Music Man, Musicman, Music Man Bass, Musicman Bass, Music Man Guitar.
