Welcome to Day 6 of my annual New Year's New Guitar Days (NYNGD)!

Hi all! Thanks for the kind words and comments on yesterday's NYNGD #2015-5!

So... How we doing so far? We have another three days or so of cool but "average" NYNGD's and then things start getting real for the final week leading up to New Years! Yes, this year's NYNGD is a marathon, not a sprint! You guys still with me for the ride?

Today's NYNGD is a masterpiece -- a Blue Dawn Axis Sport. Some of you might recall that I acquired a Blue Dawn Axis (#2014-6) last year. Well this year I ran across this amazing Blue Dawn Axis Sport and I have to tell you it is just so cool. In many ways, I like it better than the Axis -- the rosewood fretboard, plain black pickups, no binding, and even the non-matching headstock just focus you so much more on the Blue Dawn-ness of this guitar!

No, it's not an LE2007 either, but at least this time I knew that going in (whereas last year I was unaware that Blue Dawn had been a stock color several years before it was brought back in 2007 as an LE). But who cares -- it's still cool and it's still relatively rare.

And this one sounds pretty damn killer. As I said, these guys are growing on me. Yes, Tollie, we have been strangely absent of Axis Floyds this year (WAIT FOR IT), but the Axis Sport is no BS and I still can't believe I turned my nose up at these for so long!

(The back story in case you're new to my NYNGD: For the past couple of years I've done a fun thing that most of you I think enjoyed, and I thought I would do it again this year. Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date... So, as a fun holiday thing, let's launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day leading up to New Years Eve! In the past I've received PM's about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. :) The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!)

(Also, in case anybody gets any funny ideas -- these guitars are not at my house. They are all in my very secure and alarmed studio facility. I usually only have two guitars floating around the house...)

That's a cool one, Jeff.

I can only assume that these guitars are kept in cases at your studio, since the wall space needed to display your collection would be huge. Do you rotate them in and out of cases so you can keep some of them on display?

I was thinking the same thing, or an artist instrument. I had a blue dawn sport, they are very cool, mine was the maple neck with non-mathcing headstock.

Congrats!!!!

I have space for around 20 hanging in my studio. I plan to extend that this spring and add room for maybe another 15 (reconfiguring the room to open up more wall space). Rest are in cases and I rotate them every month or so. A couple of my go-to guitars are always on the wall. And a couple rare or special guitars pretty much stay in their cases (like the EVH's as I don't want them to fade more).

I like the idea of rotating them so that you can enjoy all of them from time to time.
