CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!! It's a a lot of fun and worth the sleepless nights. The was a period of the where my daughter would only stop crying and fall asleep if I was playing acoustic for her.

Congratulations (especially to the mother ... we have to admit that our better half does most of the job !)

Congrats Kevin!!! Welcome to the next half of your life!

My only piece of advice, and this comes from the heart--- don't listen to anyone's advice! People come out of the woodwork to berate you with unsolicited advice/words of wisdom/"you NEED to get ___". Truth is, you and your wife and baby have to figure out what works for you. What works for one family will not work for another. (This is assuming the new one is your first!).

Awesome news. :)

We decided on Madeleine Aoife.

Aoife is an Irish name, pronounced Ee-Fa (a mythical Irish warrior princess). We really liked some other Irish names, like Niamh (nee-uv) and Grainne (graw-nya) but we'll probably never live in Ireland and committing her to a life of constantly telling French or Americans how to pronounce and spell her name seemed kinda unfair.

Choosing a name was an interesting process because Bridget and I had such different approaches, experiences, associations, and of course at 40+ years old, water under the bridge too.

Her: What about X?
Me: Vetoed! Old girlfriend. What about Y?
Her: No, cartoon character that scared me as a child. What about Z?
Me: Hated 80's pop singer. Try again.
etc.

In the end both of first choices fell by the wayside. Now that she's here, Madeleine is a great choice.

Madeleine and Mommy came home from hospital today. I'm very happy to tell you I'm typing this from the comfort of my own home! Ah the smell of baby poop. Nothing like it! :D
