Hi guys,

New to the forum so this is my first post. I recently bought a Majesty 6 string in the Artic Dream finish. I own a couple of JP15's already so I know what these guitars are about. The majesty though is in a different league and I love it. Fantastic finish, sounds and feel its a very nice guitar and I'm extremely lucky to be able to afford one.

I was just playing away the other day and noticed a few issues with the finish on the guitar. Firstly on the neck where the nut is there's a small mark which looks like a scratch and I can get my nail in it a little plus it looks like there's a mark there from where the nut has been glued in but I'm not sure. The other issues I can see are a few marks on the body, almost like someone has wiped a cloth over it and the cloth was too brittle and left a series of marks. I've tried to capture that on my pics I've added but it will only show up in a certain light.

I just wondered what you all thought of this? Is it normal? have any of you come across this before? The guitar is being sent back to the store tomorrow for them to check out so hopefully they can tell me what they think as well.

Many thanks

Paul

Best best, as always, is to speak with the MM customer service team (link in my sig). You're already talking to the store, so they'll do that for you in this case but you can always reach out.

Paul-

First off, welcome to the EBMM forums, and grats on the Majesty! They are a lovely instrument and definitely in a class of its own.

Now onto the pics; the first one looks like a legitimate issue, I would guess from the factory (maybe sipped through Q&A?) but the next two I would guess a tech/employee at the music store wiped it down with a dirty cloth, or if it was hanging on the wall/display, some random person glanced it with a ring on a finger then maybe tried to wipe it on a dirty shirt or something. Even money on either scenario, either way, a bummer. EBMM Customer Service is great tho, and you've contacted the store you purchased from, which is the absolutely the right first step.

Thanks for the reply guys. That's good to hear its something that needs addressing. My majesty is going back tomorrow and I've been in contact with the store who are always very helpful so all is moving in the right direction. The only downside is I might have to wait for another artic dream to come in and I'll be without my nice new guitar lol. I'll know more in a couple of days.

I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks again

Paul

HI guys,

Here's a bit of an update for you all. There was indeed a problem with the finish of my Majesty, it has now been returned to music man. I'm guessing they will send it back to the factory to be re finished. I now have to wait a few weeks for my replacement so I'm not sure when I will get it at this time. Hopefully it won't be too long.

I just wondered is it worth me sending Music Man in the US or the distributor over here in the UK an email and asking how long it will take to come in?

Is there a distributor over here in the UK?

Thanks guys
Paul

Surely they would just replace the guitar rather than make you wait while trying to fix it? Refinishing sounds like a massive and risky job.

Sorry I might have given the impression that I'm waiting for them to fix the one that is faulty. I'm not I'm waiting on a replacment to come through. I have no idea what has happened to the faulty one I was just guessing that's all sorry about that.

Strings and things is the uk distributor. I've spoken to them and they are real helpful. Google them and give them a call

I did email them this morning, they got in contact with my dealer that I bought the guitar from and then I got an email back from the dealer saying pretty much the same thing. The shipment is due in a few week and we can't give you anymore info than that. Apparently Strings & Things have a policy of not getting in contact with customers directly. I'm not sure what that's about to be fair.

Not a problem I'm happy to wait.

Yeah, they won't take orders from customers but I've found if you ring them they have no problem chatting to you about stuff. They just ask you to get things done officially thru the dealer

Btw I'd expect six weeks. I ordered two pick guards from my dealer and they come on the next shipment from musicman which is six-eight weeks away

Really that long? I'm looking more like August then before I see anything. Oh well I guess I'll have to wait a little longer then.

Totally normal in the UK and Europe. The store will look after you. It's their legal obligation to do so, at no cost to you, when you have a valid warranty claim. Strings & Things are distributors, not retailers, so they deal only with the stores, not with retail customers.

Update for you all, I just got a call from my dealer, the next shipment is due in next week and there is an Artic Dream on that shipment which wasn't supposed to be on there. I'm glad the guys at Music Man have sorted one out for me great service all round. I'd like to thank the guys at Project Music in the UK as well their service is excellent. If anyone in the UK is after a Music Man guitar give them a call you won't be disappointed.

Pics to follow!
