I think neck scale is the biggest factor, but tuning also plays a factor of course (as well as the string gauge). 9's on my JP feel like spaghetti while 9's on my strat copy Peavey feel like 10's or 11's! I thought about tuning the Peavey down a half step to loosen up the strings a bit, but I might try 8's on it and see what they feel like... :eek:

This is what I am talking about. The same basic specs with scale length, trem, no locking nut, etc. yet one feels much better (buttery) than the other.
