07' Stingray Awesome Tone!

Hello, I want to start by saying I apologize for my previous post regarding the Stingray necks warping. I just wanted to get some insight before I go and Spend $1500 on a guitar. Sorry if I offended anyone. Secondly I have only dabbled a little with the Stingray and from what I have heard from my fingers it sounds superb, but will I get a goos smooth Phat tone from this thing like a would My Fender J-Bass. Some people say this thing is only good for slapping and popping. But when I plucked it I got a nice sound out of it. If anyone with experience on the Stingray 4 could respond I would be greatly appreciative.

The StingRay, in any pickup/configuration, will definetly get you Phat!
You've played it, you thought it sounded superb, your ears aint lying!

I'm not making many friends here am I....LOL.... Again I apologize, but I like to make informed decisions about anything I buy. But most of all I like to get opinions from people who have been using these instruments in real life situations. I always listen to what people say, and then investigate the trueness of the statements. So far I've been satisfied with the responses I'm getting. if people are this passionate about these instruments then their must be something to them... I think I'm going to take one home with me this weekend once and for all, and try to discover whats behing this MM madness.

Hey, nothing wrong with forming opinons from a larger group who has expereinced it 1st hands.
That's what you are doing with the comments from here. Just human nature to focus on the negatives, especially when preparing for a major purchase.
So, do you have any pictures of this puppy or what?

My 07' StingRay sounds better than any other older StingRay I've ever played. EBMM makes StingRays better now, than ever before. The new compensated nut is awesome.


PS - My Ray eats eats J Basses for breakfast, Warwanks and Laklands for lunch, Sadowsky for dinner, and any other bass it'll eat as a snack in between its meals.

No I never tried a Bongo. I like the look and feel and Tone of the Stingray's. Should I try one before I jump into the stingray. Is the tone different?

Agreed completely. Don't listen to anyone out there (or here for that matter). Go to the store and play what you play how you play it. It's going to be your bass, it'd better please your ears first and foremost.

I have, however, been playing Stingrays for the last (nearly) thirty years or so.

I think you'll be quite happy with the Stingray! I almost never slap/pop. I love the feel of the 'Ray, and I'd describe the tone at a gig as mighty, earth-rumbling, mountain-moving, etc.

I'm a pick player.... never S&P and have played all manner and makes of basses until the day I picked up a friends SR. Went straight out and bagged my '95 and have since sold all others to buy two more SR's.
Nothing comes close to them IMO, for reliability and tone.
Stop dilly-dallying and get out there fella!! Go buy one.... NOW!!

Stingray 5 blues player here. No slapping for me. I get that deep fat blues tone for days but it doesn't get lost. It still cuts through.
