anyone reviewing anything in a magazine should have their credentials listed with the artical. btw, U.S. guitar magazines should be giving the magazine away for free with page after page after page of advertising. some of the questions they ask the artist are quite strange as well.

BP... Maybe you should consider dropping black from the color choices. After all, if the color is holding back the ratings of the guitar you have no choice. The experts at the magazine have spoken...

Just about EVERY guitar manufacturer makes a black finish guitar. Taking that into account, and using the magazine reviewer's logic, it seems that 4.5/5 must be the highest any guitar can possibly score .. which means the AL got the highest possible score!

I remember reading previously that Phil Hartman (SNL NewsRadio Troy McClure etc) did the artwork. But I couldn't confirm it via wikipiedia. I did find.

UK Guitarist Reviews

I agree with the others that the quality of the UK magazine reviews is much higher in general than the US ones. I don't buy any US guitar magazines.

Every review I have read about in UK Guitarist EBMM has been very positive (I may not have seen all of them). I find that their praise has been realistic as well, not falsely effusive. They comment on the quality of fit and finish, the awesome necks, unique designs (things like the silent circuit) and the like. I did also, however, think it was quite stupid to dock it 1/2 a star for a colour! The review on the Stingray Classic was positively beaming though.

Since this has turned into two threads, I will also comment on the JP. It really is a beast and I am not surprised it is a top seller. It can look like anything from a shred beast to a classy high end piece. I saw a Stealth that looked like a metal demon. My BFR Koa looks like it could pull off a jazz gig at the art gallery or a rock gig at a bar. The trem is unreal. It never gets in the way.

Anyway, my 2 cents

Ibanez makes 9847659874326598327465 different versions of black in recent years. I think they've cut it doesn to 8743292743 versions lately. Doesn't seem to be slowing down their sales either.

In the UK EBMM guitars have a very good reputation and I have never and I mean never heard or read a bad thing about them. Very respected guitars over here.

I love black guitars, I have just bought a black JP6 and I would trade it for anything.

I hate those reviews.....how can you dock a guitar for being the most popular color...IN THE SPECIFIC MODEL!!!!!! I guess all the guys that bought black ones have no taste?

BP, I must have bad taste then. I love black guitars and basses. I have my JP 6 BFR Roasted Neck coming soon that will match my Bongo 4 H BFR Roasted Neck and then as soon as I get that, I am turning around and ordering a Game Changer HSH with Piezo and Tremolo bar. And when I order it, even if other colors are then available for the Game Changer at that time, I am still ordering black because it is sexy!
