Hello everyone!
My name is Yhofunk, I'm new here and I hope I'm in the right forum. I have a question: my 1979 Music Man Sabre bass has a broken volume potentiometer. The marking on the potentiometer is: AB 25K CTS 1 91. What would be a good replacement for this? I don't want to use just any potentiometer because it might affect the sound. Thanks in advance. Hi and welcome to the Forum. Nice Bass!

What you need is a 25K ohms potentiometer (25K is 25,000 ohms) with an Audio taper. "CTS" is the brand name only.

Email Ernie Ball Music Man Customer Service for advice on how to obtain the part you need:

Alternatively, you could search online. There are several outlets that supply electronic parts for guitars. Make sure you order a pot with the same length and diameter as the shaft on your pot.

An alternative pot taper is "Linear" (as opposed to Audio). This will spread the volume adjustment more evenly across the rotation of the volume control. This was an update towards the end of the Pre-EB period.
