So I'm organizing my garage a couple weeks ago, and I came across this box that had some old music magazines that I held onto for one reason or another. I hadn't opened this box in years, so I went through it and found some cool articles I forgot about. The biggest treat was in a Guitar Player magazine from October 1987 that had an interview with Albert Lee.

When I purchased this issue, I was 19, and never really heard of Music Man, and I was playing Fenders (again..I was 19...I was clueless) I dont remember reading the Albert article at all...so when I saw it again recently...I was looking at the same article again 22 years later and it made me realize how much I matured musically, and appreciate true players like Mr. Lee.

I was also surprised to find the original sound page that came with the magazine...in excellent condition. On this sound page is a song called "Fun Ranch Frolics" by Albert and our very own Big Poppa.

You have no idea how I wish I had a turntable to play it on now....

Anyway...here are some scans I did to show Albert back then in 1987...holding a Silhouette...which was his main guitar at the time according to the article, and the sound page with the Albert / Big Poppa jam.

The bridge pickup looks like a Tele pickup. Anyone have a better picture of the guitar or more information?

Yeah that was funny...I didnt play on it Freebo did. What happened was my house i San Luis Obispo was called the Fun Ranch. Whenever anyone stayed the they ogt a coffe mug that said Biff and the Fungirls Bed and Breakfast on one side and the fun ranch on the other...I had too many people to remember from the smiths to big al come visit.

One of the acoustic jams was the main section to "fun Ranch Frolics" and so Albert went to do the sound page and played me the rough and I said "Albert that was the Fun Ranch Boogie with a different b section"...He said "Oh dear...you're right so thats how we wrote the song. THere is video on the song somewhere.....(like may warehouse with all the live tapes that someday Ill listen to again)

That was the first silhouette that we made for Albert We put the tele in the bridge position It was a cool guitar.
