I'm sending my 92 SR to Music Man to get fixed. It has no output. I've changed the jack and looked at the wiring and to my limited knowlage everything looks OK.

My question is: Has anyone ever had all the electronics replaced and had a new pickup and preamp put it? Would this make the bass worth less on the market if I decided to sell it later?

Would it ruin the "vintage" quality of the bass?

As a general rule I like to keep things stock. I love this bass and will probably never sell it, but I have a feeling either the preamp or the pickup is bad.

I bought it on Fathers Day 08 and it has been my #1 since I got it. Beautiful bass. Trans white, mute bridge, 3 band, wicked birdseye maple neck with rosewood board. The color has yellowed a little and it has a couple of wierd color spots on it under the finish. A pink spot on the back and a couple of blue ones by the rear strap lock which I think make it look really cool.

As for the electronics, I do enjoy the pickup in my 30th better though, as least the shape of it. The 92 E and G poles are shaped a little different. They slope and are not flat like my 30th and the 30th seems to have more output. If the pickup was swaped out it would it still be the same pickup? Or would it be a more modern one like my 30th has?

Excuse my ignorance.

If you sent it to EBMM and the parts need to be replaced, they will replace them with the correct parts...same as the ones they originally left the factory with. It won't hurt the resale value.
