Hi all, would this 95 silo be alder or ash? Not a wood expert and thought the grain might give it way for those that are. Thanks...

That grain and finish looks a whole lot like my Valentine... which is ash. But I'm sure somebody will have a definitive answer.

Regardless... what an amazing guitar!

I was given the info that my Silo is ash by posting the SN in the "serial-production-date-guitar"-thread!

I'll bet it's ash. Ash is more commonly used on that kid of finish because the grain is more apparrent than alder which is generally very plain and the grain doesn't come through anything other than a completely transparent finish.

That's definitely ash. Nothing else has that kind of grain pattern. Maybe oak? But you don't build guitars out of oak.
