<div class="bbWrapper">Hey Y'all<br />
<br />
I noticed the spacing on the nut of my SR5 is off. The space between the D & E strings is noticably wider. It is causing the G string to be to close to the edge.. So I am thinking of having a new nut installed. Any recomendations?</div>

The nut slots are measured from center to center. Because the strings are not the same size it is an optical illusion.

I understand what you're saying but I compaired it to the other SR5s at the shop it is wider D-G than the two new ones . By quite a bit</div>
<div class="bbWrapper">Is it the original nut? The reason I ask is, the nuts are cut on a machine and then finished by hand, and it would be really hard to screw one up.</div>

I don't know I bought it used.</div>

Seriously, find a music store with a tech that does that stuff.<br />

BTW - 2 pix that don't show the nut (esp the back of the bass) don't really help!</div>
<div class="bbWrapper">I have often wondered if this is a legitimate problem as well. My SR4 nut seems to be cut incorrectly as well. My E string is much closer to the top edge of the neck than the G is to the bottom. Either that or my neck or bridge were not put on inline with the nut. Noentheless, it is playable, but it just seems a little awkward. My Sterling is dead straight.</div>
<div class="bbWrapper">Someone from EB tech recomended I loosen the neck bolts and pull up (towards me from the playing position). That helped, but that G string has less that 1/8" plastic on the outside. Wish I had my camera going <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f641.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":(" title="Frown :(" data-smilie="3"data-shortname=":(" /> I will borrow a camera and post a pic.</div>
<div class="bbWrapper">My SR5 appears that way too. I can't find it in the string spacing when measuring that, but the nut appears to be a little more sharply rounded on the G side. <br />
