Hi! I just got a Music Man Luke with the EMG pickups SLV and 85. My problem is there is a weak output when i play the 1st E string compared with the rest of the strings. Even i select the neck, middle or bridge pickup, the output is low.
I tried to raise the pickups but it doesnt not help.

Is there a fault in the pickups or i'm missing something?
Thanks to anybody here who can help me out.

Hashim

PS:I message EMG for support but still waiting for reply

Hi Hashim,

Is the guitar new or used? It is the tone settings on your amp/effects rolling off treble at all? Is the high E string higher than the others?

Sounds odd that this would be a problem with the guitar, but you might try calling MusicMan customer support and they can help you out.

Hi Beej,

The guitar is new. I've check with the amp setting flat...still 1st string weak. Check thru GT6 input..still the same. Check thru a mixer...still the same.
My height setting of the 1st high E string is about the same as the rest.

I just got a reply from EMG and they said i need to check the intonation.
I'll try to do that n see what happens.

Thanks again Beej

Hey- no problem.

Intonation? That's weird. Changing it will ever-so-slighly affect the amplitude of the string, but I think that would be near impossible to detect.

If it's a new guitar, definitely contact the MM customer service dept. They will help you sort this out, and they're awesome to deal with! Don't have the number handy but it's on the website.

Change the string. Think you have a bad string.
Can´t be a dead spot on the neck if it is on every fret of the e string.
