2 band eq question

I've read a couple of diferent versions of the 2 band eq here.Does someone know for sure how it works ?

If I want my tone to be flat like the 3 band at center detent, do I have to put my knobs at 0(completely off) or I would have to put them close to center or full on ?

IMO, set half way then go to your power amp before final adjustment on your Bass.
