so im really bored ... i have a gig in 2 hours. problem is the gig is in san jose and we go on at 11:40 which is code for "probably 12:30". LoL. The gig is closer to my work than it is to my house, so its friday night and I'm stuck at work (7pm now) for a couple more hours!!! Nothing starts till around 10, so Im looking at another 2hours to kill before i start my drive down.

Everything will be great in a couple hours but right now I'm just bored and thought i'd say hi.

I'm sitting here watching you guys get ready for your gig. Our band has been pretty busy lately and the wives are complaining (mine included). So I take yesterday and today off, No gigs the rest of the month. I've been underfoot for 48 hours and tonight she says, "I think you should start booking some more shows"

Sweet!

I had a gig last Friday...a 7 P.M. gig (early like most Cajun music gigs)...so I decided to stay at work late until it was time to drive to the gig. When I got to the place and was set up & about ready to pull my instruments from their cases, the owner came up & told us that he double booked bands. He wanted the other band to play since they drove farther. I stayed at work late for nothing!

The owner did pay us for our trouble, though. :D

ahhh im finally home/ i think we finished playing at 1:30am. Chilled a bit afterwards then hit the road back home.

The gig was aweomse we kicked ass. had a cool mosh pit going on. I was loving. My mic got knocked down i dunno how many times.

im sure many of you can agree on this: finishing a gig and feeling like you did good is a pretty unbeatable feeling!

Oh ya, so our rhythm guitarist broke a string during a song (we jave a lead guy too so it wasnt a big deal). After taht song he went to grab his backup and I whispered to Shane "hey play Folsom Prison". He started up, i kicked in, and our drummer came in ... all before Clint could get the strap on hsi backup; so he was screwed he had to sing it. LoL. We'd played this song maybe twice at a practice 2 weeks ago but we pulled it off .... impromptu lead and bass solos too ... good laughs but it sounded fine. After that our setlist was useless and we just winged it. everyone was having a great time. After what was our "last song" I went into Rancid's Journey to the End of the East Bay and people ate it up ... it was just flat out fun.

PLaying gigs is the bomb! .... 18 hours till the next one. LoL

Nothing beats a great gig!

BTW, how late does your gig go tonight? If mine gets done early enough (8:30 start), I'll swing over your way.

we go on at midnight! i dunno how well thsi gig's gonan go tonight tho ... but your obviously welcome to swing by. its part of teh Emergenza thing and our broke, punk rock fans arent too keen on the $15 cover, so i have no clue what turnout we'll get

info is at:
http://victim-nation.com/shows.php

our site says we go on at 11:45 to avoid the whole "its saturday night, but technically its midnight sunday confussion", plus i have a feeling the Emergenza people will be strict on what time people go on etc and we dont want the "fashionably late" to miss us .... cuz really .... what gig ever starts on time? LoL

how was your gig?
It kind of got rained out(it was outside)but we ended up playing acoustic in a small area that was sheltered. Our drummer was coming straight from M.I. in Hollywood and didn't have his kit but was supposed to borrow the kit from the drummer in my other band.Well my other band canceled so he was stuck without a kit.We asked the opening band(who I heard were all super rich kids from O.C.)if we could use their kit and being the nice guys:rolleyes: they were they said it would cost $30! When our drummer got there we told him the situation he said if we were paying him $30 that he was going to put a drumstick through the floor tom on the last song.Well right before that bands last song it started sprinkling so I moved my gear safely out of the rain.As soon as the last song ended it started POURING and I scrambled to help roll the rest of our bands gear to safety(including an Orange combo amp that costs $2200).The other band was still setup:eek:They got most of their gear out of the rain in a few minutes except for some reason the bass player left his Ampeg 8x10 out in the rain for the entire downpour which lasted about ten minutes. After it was done I saw him rolling it out laughing:rolleyes: and it was completely soaked!Anyways, i'm just glad we weren't setup yet.Afterwards we went to a nearby steakhouse/bar for some dinner and a couple pints(and a good blues band)Sorry for the long response but that's what happened..........Got home just in time to witness the tail end of the fiasco here on the board around 1 a.m.
