2 Questions about my sterling please

1.What gauge strings came on it

2.What is the difference/explanation between the Pickup in Series and parallel besides the sound obviously

It came with Ernie Ball Super Slinkys ... sorry can't help with # 2

"Q: What does the 3 way switch do on the Stingray 5 and the Sterling?

A: With the switch in the 'closest to neck' position, the pickup's flow of voltage follows a snake like pattern around the poles, this is called the Series position, creating an out of phase slightly brighter humbucker tone. The second position is the Single Coil position, only the coil closest to the bridge is used creating a thin, bright sound for soloing, a phantom coil is added to reduce single coil noise. The last position is the Parallel position, use this for the traditional thick bottom end bass sound made famous by the Stingray 4. "

Ahhh thanx beth so pickups are pickups bass or guitar ,never had a ton of experience with active electronics so just wanted to make sure my head was around it proper ,thanx again!

Also, I will tell you a little secret that most people don't know.

If you move that little switch back and forth, the sound changes.

Jacks right! When I gig with my Sterling I have the sound guy place a mic right at the switch, I can get all sorts of rhythm patterns with it! But you must be careful, one time while taking a solo on “Wipeout” the tip came off.
