1. Pink Floyd - The Pulse. Music that touches my heart, comfortably numb being the be all end all guitarsolo of all time. Best guitarsound ever.
2. Metallica - The Black Album. My first introduction into metal. Hetfield influenced me enormously. I see a lot of him in my playing now.
2. Metallica - And Justice For All. After the Black Album this one just blew me away. Practised endlessly on One. So proud of myself when I nailed that solo for the first time.
3. Pantera - Cowboys from Hell. Step up from Justice. Metal like it should be. Melody, aggression, it just swings. Arguably the best metal- "ballad" ever Cemetary Gates. Dimebag became my instant hero and still is (RIP).
4. Queen - Innuendo (first album I ever bought). The solo in Innuendo still amazes me. The Show Must Go On must be my favorite Queen-track.
5. Dream Theater - Metropolis pt II Scenes from a memory. Together with the live-DVD a document of craftmanship. Amazing musicianship. This made my dad understand why I love metal.
6. Steve Vai - Alien Love Secrets. Die to Live gives me goosebumps every time.
7. Anathema - Judgement. For those not familiar with them, give these albums a go. Often called the Pink Floyd of metal, though I think metal is too big a word for them. Awesome band. Best live-show I EVER saw.
8. Anathema - Alternative 4
9. Killswitch Engage - The End Of Heartache. That song in particular got me through a hard time. Fantastic voice, awesome riffing. The joy to play just shines on this album.
10. Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms. Outside of metal, Knopfler influenced me most, together with Gilmour. When we recorded our first album (full on metal) I played a solo that a player I really dig said about: "the guitarist must have listened to Knopfler a lot" and I was proud for that.
11. Lamb of God - Sacrament. These guys are the future of metal. This album just gives you a giant kick in the nuts.
12. Meshuggah - Destroy Erase Improve. Math-metal pioneers. I was just shocked when I first listened to this record. It's a benchmark in the scene.
13. Liquid Tension Experiment I. Speechless. Some albums make you wonder wether you'ld be better off quitting playing cause you could never imagine to be anywhere that good.
14. David Gilmour - Live at Royal Albert Hall. Just bought this on BluRay. Stunning sound. The older he gets, the better. Pure refinement. Gilmour in general showed me that the occasional error does't mean anything, doesnt take away from the magic that hitting the right note at the right time can be.
15. U2 - Rattle and hum. The Edge tought me about using a guitar to create landscapes. I think the guy is massively underestimated. I got massively into huge racks, effects and guitarsynths. Still am actually.
16. Tool - Schism. Intelligent, melancholic, groovy, screaming, soft. Just a complete record.
17. Slayer - Reign in Blood. What to say about that one. Finished my initiation into metal. That album will always be awesome. Also it annoys the hell out of my girlfriend AND my parents when I was living at home. Always nice, hehehe :)
18. Death - Symbolic. Got me into the more extreme parts of metal. Chuck Schuldiner was a genius in my book. Not as famous as Dimebag was but might have been just as influential.
19. Caedere - Mass Emission. First full-length album from friends of mine. They asked me to play a solo on it after I hadnt touched a guitar for years because of a major depression. Forced me out of musical hiding.
20. Signs of Zodiac - Evil Spirits. First and only album from my own band. The whole process was fantastic. The studio, the comradery with the bandmates, the quarrels, the fighting, the joy at having the endresult (wich sucks now all these years later :) ), amazing experience. 10 years after I can still listen to it with a big smile on my face. The band isnt here anymore but I have no regrets about that period in my life.

That was a great album.

Heck yah, the first time I heard "Girlfriend" the song I was just floored. If I'm not mistaken, Ry Cooder plays on it.

Monkees I'm A Believer
Carpenters Goodbye To Love (My favourite guitar solo)
John Lee Hooker Boom Boom
Muddy Waters Hoochie Coochie Man
BB King The Thrill Is Gone
& some albums

That's probably enough.....it's fun.....though I'm not sure I would claim that any of them except Elvis & The Shadows "affected my life"......without those two I wouldn't have felt the urge to pester my parents for that first guitar and I'd probably be a rich accountant now!!!!

Nice to see someone mentioning "Caress of Steel."
It seems to be almost everyone's least favorite Rush album and I never understood why. It is my second favorite and I still listen to it frequently over most other Rush albums.

That was my second Rush album and man it was killer.
