I just purchased a brand new MM Sting Ray bass 4 string.
I noticed that it feels very light compared to an older model that I used to own.
The salesmen told me it was because it was a "good piece of ash".
Does anyone know if there have been any changes to the design for the newest Sting Rays, including the wood but also anything else? I remember my tuning pegs on the older model being larger as well. ???

Welcome to the forum, make yourself at home and have some fun here! :D

Wood varies quite a bit in weight, be happy you got a light one. You can use the search function and find lots of info about EBMM basses.

Enjoy your bass and we love pictures around here, post us a couple of your bass.

Wood varies in weight, EBMM hasn't changed the Stingray body.

The tuners are also the same size they've always been, are you sure your old bass had originals?

I guess I'm just remembering them larger because my jazz bass has jumbo tuners.

Ernie Ball Music Man Basses Has done well over 100 changes since the 70's music man basses one including the body, the bodies now are contoured and the tuning pegs have never changed as far as the look of them, but you will find your Ernie Ball Music Man Bass will Play 1000 times better then your 70's would ever play. Hope this helps.

Stupid Question :)

Hi

I'm also new to the Musicman scene, i recently ordered a SR4 and yes it is VERY light (love it!) After reading this thread i realise i was probably quite silly for not asking what year the bass is! If it has been ordered spanking new from Musicman, in your knowledge will it be a 2008?

Cheers

::EDIT::
