This is my first post here, so please be gentle folks :)

I had a chance to try out one of these new 20th Anniversary Silhouettes today in a local store. I am actually on the lookout for an Axis Super Sport but this one really caught my attention. I don't know a huge amount about them but I have to say this was one impressive guitar. Gorgeous, with the highest standards of fit and finish and a beautiful birdseye neck. I wasn't so sure about the chrome pickup covers and knobs although they grew on me after a while. I think it might look really good with zebras.

Cosmetics aside, the playability of the neck was just amazing and I didn't think it could get any better than the axis or JP6. The tone is very luscious with a nice degree of snap when necessary, especially with the in-between or neck setting. I wasn't so sure about the bridge pickup with gain, but this may have been an amp problem since I was using a Marshall (since that's what I am familiar with). I am guessing this guitar would work nicely with a Fender or Mesa amp. Probably a bit expensive for my wallet, but very impressive.

It was in a local guitar center in Baltimore Maryland. It was a hardtail with the plain headstock which is what I prefer since it seems such a shame to cover all that gorgeous birdseye. They said they had had it only for a day or so and is the first one I have ever seen (except for the pics here).

As an aside, you guys at EBMM should be congratulated for continuing to produce US made instruments of the highest quality at a reasonable price. Every EBMM I have ever tried has been flawless and beautifully put together.

Fred,

Please check your PM. I wasn't sure what the forum policy was regarding "advertising" specific dealers so I dropped you the info in private.

Philip,
I didn't have a PM. It's no problem telling where you can find EBMM guitars, only posting street pricing is against forum policy.

Oh yeah, and welcome!

Oooops, my fault... I didn't realize you sent an email. Got it!

thanks!
fred

Fred, I find it strikingly amazing that you were able to use the words "wife" and "hooters" in the same sentence without offending anyone, or being awarded the couch as your new bed. :D

Darrell,
It was her choice!!! She actually asks to go.

Truth be told, I've only seen one or two girls who work there that have bigger ones... ;)

BP,
I'm about 40 minutes from Frederick... When will you be in town?

I wish I had known, I would have smoked some more shoulder this weekend.

Guilty as charged, Fred :) *woof*..... I did warn you to call first, but I am sorry I didn't drop you a lline.....

Anyway, my offer to let you try it out still stands. If there is some sort of EBMM clinic in Fredrick this week then I would be delighted to bring it with me so you can check it out. I am only about 30 minutes away from there.... Otherwise, shoot me an e-mail and we will hook up sometime soon.

Philip,
No problem... Like BP says, my wife loves to go to Hooter's anyway so it wasn't a wasted trip by any means. The Guitar Center was just to check things out. They didn't have much guitar wise in Musicman though... A couple of SuperSports and a Luke from what I saw.

I'd be interested in checking out the 20th. The salesnerd said it was one of the nicest guitars he's ever seen.

Phillip,
I would appreciated if you can post some pix of the 20th and a detailed review and comparison to other EBMM.

Fred: let's get together soon!

songman: When I get a chance, I would be happy to post some pics and talk a bit more about the guitar. I am familiar with the Axis SS and previously owned a nice JP6. It's been a busy weekend and I just haven't had much time.
