Great, funny, patient purveyor of all things Bass in EBMM.
I got a HS Buttercream Sterling from Jack and Steve a few months back.

Hi,
I'm new here. I've been really into the bass lately and I've been digging MusicMan basses for a while. I was ready to purchase one, when a buddy says he has a 20th anniversary one that he might be interested in selling.

This model is incredibly beautiful. It looks like a natural color with a flame, a tort guard and tort binding. Single humbucker. The neck seems to have some flame too. This is obviously a top of the line bass. Also, I've played it and it feels and sounds nice.

The condition is 9 out of 10. He's looking for $1700, is this too much? What's the going rate for this? Or should I just get a regular used Stingray for half. I don't mind spending the extra money if it's worth it. (meaning that if I ever want to sell it, I won't take a beating)

Thank you,
Jerseydrew

One more thing, if anybody has some pics they want to share, it would be appreciated.

First Off welcome aboard, your at the best site of any. Second, I have 10 of the 20th Anniversary Basses and your right they are incredible, Is $1700 too much, No not really, I bought some of mine for as little as a grand and 1 i paid 2000 for cause it was a 10 Top.

resale on them, I don't think you'll lose if you hold out buut like always in a hurry you may lose. But think long term, Keep the bass, it's just a beautiful bass. you can spend less and get just a Killer Ernie Ball Music Man Bass but if you have the money then get the Cadilac, they only made 1428 of them I believe. I don't care what you say. GC rules, they stock 5 string sets of strings. None of the local mom & pop bother to, despite my very frequent rumblings on the subject.

....mmmmmm... 30th aniversary.

That sounds good to me because I'm only 5'7" and my hands are a bit on the small side.

Yeah, me too.

5'7"

Small hands, small feet. And you know what THAT means!

SMALL GLOVES AND SMALL SHOES! :D

Welcome!

Ritchie

p.s. I have 2 Sterling basses. And they are NOT for girls! That would be Daisy Rock.

DJ so your the one that has them all I knew there was a stock pile somewhere:D :D

My 2 Cents I think they made about 1276 give or take a few I guess if you are buying to play it live be prepared for battle scars which will lower the resale value if you are thinking as an investment then buy put it under the bed but then you will have to buy another SR or sterling or bongo or all 3 to play live

how come no one brought up eye color?

Blue = Sterling
Brown = Stingray

Brown eyes w/ Small hands = Bongo
Blue eyes w/large hands = Bongo.
