Possible? yeah, just be sure to do the standard 'clip the ears and bore the holes' fudging with the pick-ups.

Also, get the EMG-X's; I hear they have a bit more open, organic sound to them. And yes, the chrome tops would look fine on the Silo as well.

I dont think you should have a problem. Those pickup rings are really cool, and should accept almost any pickup. By the way, I think putting in the regular black EMGs would look really Metal...I know you are after that. And maybe also switch the chrome knobs to black. Here is what it would look like somewhat:

Sidetrack: Still need some videos of the Silo Special and 20th my friend! Are you getting along with the Silo Sp? Still have the JSX?

now we're just passing advertising along. i think the only real difference between normal EMGs and the X series is that the classic EMGs will have an almost fixed output, with the difference between playing 1 or 6 strings being non-proportional. as far as being open sounding, they sound pretty open, but the huge low end tends to deceive the ear.

imho, if you're going for dynamics, go passive. if you want actives, then don't go for half way.

and i love EMGs, but lately i've been enjoying my D-Sonic ALOT!!!!

EDIT: has anyone ever tried a set of seymour duncan dave mustaine livewires?

To my ears, the livewires sound better than EMG's, as far as actives are concerned. The EMG-X were supposed to get closer to the sound of what Livewires offer, but I've never heard reports, and never the actualy pickups.

As far as livewires go though, look up any of the clips by 'samhillband' on youtube. He has great tone, great chops, and pretty much exlcusively uses livewires. Also, quite thankfully, plays more classic/modern rock than 'METAAALLLLLZZ'.

Personally, I would think that would ruin the character of that already amazing sounding instrument. I own one. But it's your axe, do as you wish with it.

Mark (samhill) uses Duncan Blackouts. They're different tonewise from the Livewires. My buddy has the Mustaine Livewire set in his guitar and they sound terrible.
