Okay I will post this here as it is one of those crazy ebay sales that only Sterling would have details about. But their is a guy on ebay selling a T-Gold EVH for 225K or best offer of which he has three so far. I guess what makes this so rare is he claims the guitar is signed by VH before the clear finish was applied at the factory and that their are only 3. Ed has one his engineer and this guy. BP do you remember the story behind this ax.

At $225k a pop, I would think that BP would have kept a dozen or so!!:)
I think BP has one that's more valuable hanging on his office wall. For the money this guy's asking I could become the EBMM importer for a small country;). New Zealand perhaps :p

Sadly my 225 thousand will stay in my pocket as it isn't left handed.
Good luck to whoever buys it at that price, I'm not sure it would be a great investment though I have no doubt it's a fine guitar_

Honestly, it's only a freakin signature...whoever would willingly throw money at something like this that is not even fraction of this price, is absolutely out of their mind. And there are people out there that do throw money away on pointless things that are nowhere near the actual value...I call this mindless materialism.

Ok. Those are the only 3 in existance? The last EVH made is hanging in the Guitar Center (over one of the doorways) in Manchester, CT and it has a sign saying it's the last one and Ed's signature was done before the clear was applied. Is this one of those examples where there were a couple hundred made but publicly it was limited to 3?

I doubt their were many made and the seller says Ed, his engineer and the seller have the 3.Jack if you go to that GC maybe it is not their anymore, and someone made them a nice offer like the seller. Was it T-Gold? Sterling is the only one that can give the details behind these guitars. I love the EVHs/Axis and their is no question they are a modern classic design, but this guy is smoking crack asking 225K. It is mind boggling that he has had 3 offers though, but even if I had Bill Gates scratch and the guitar came with VH himself the price is insane. Then again who knows how these high end collectors think.

Without running the serial number my best guess is that this was made for a charity auction
Guy Wallace would not make one of those certificates for a insider guitar. There were probable 25 to 50 that were made for charity record company radio promotion that ed signed below the finish. I'll try to remember to ask azaih to look it up

Is it still there? I haven't seen it in 3 years or so. I remember it was there the day they opened in 1995 and it had a $35,000.oo price tag.

Well it will be no problem if the requested 225K will go to charity but I doubt this will happen (whatever the price this guitar will reach)

I'm always wondering why instrument pics are so small in these auctions, whereas "documents" are too big.....just wondering ;)

Really eh. Anyone foolish enough to even consider making an offer would ask for better pics so why not just post them.

This serial number comes up as a Trans Gold EVH with a build date of 9/24/92. It was invoiced on 11/24/92 under the Misc Artist Relations account. Unfortunately that invoice doesn't come up other information as to who it was shipped to. There is nothing else connected to that serial number that I can find that shows it as being 1 of 3

I noticed it maybe a month ago, when heading home from a business meeting. While waiting for someone to pull down one of the used guitars, I was glancing around and saw it. It's near the front of the store. There's no pricetag on it.

Because it's very easy to make a fake vintage guitar, but almost impossible to fake a "Certificate of Authenticity"

Or do I have that backwards?

4 Offers....I'm guessing that the offers were a bit lower than his asking price. ;) I particularly like the $400 shipping charge. Is he going to hand deliver it?
