Man a can't wait, I ordered my Quilted top 5 HH with rosewood board on 08/31. This will most likely be the last bass I ever buy, I'm not sure about that, but I think it will cover all my needs for certain. Maybe I'll get lucky and the wait won't be too long.
Thanks for an awesome demo Ed!

Un-freaking-believable, not 1 but 3 versions of a bass that just set the bar into the outer limits. Congratulations BP & Co. Benchmark is putting it lightly. And of course the best player to perform the demo, bar none.

Ed,

WOW! That bass really cooks! Great job and thanks for these great posts. I did notice quite a few cuts in your demo. Was that because you got a 'lil confused with ALL those sound options? :) Just kidding....

Yeah, this one got a little choppy at times. Hard to keep track of where I was!

I've just put EB flats on this bass, took it out last night and I am floored. I was mainly using it in passive/series mode, and then only using the preamp occasionally to bring up the highs for pickstyle, or lows for palm mute thumping. This setup is the utlimate for rootsy/Americana stuff. Glad I switched, I have the Sterling 5 for "classic EB tones", the 25th now is setup for a whole new pallette.

But I have to say.... that HSS thing is haunting me... I want that mid position pickup in something!

I had to listen again at home where I had a better sound system for the PC and also more time to drool! In my dreams I wish I could play like you ED. I can't wait until mine gets here. No rush BP, I want a pretty one :D I am a middle of the road bass player at best, but that thing inspires me. Is that a 212TNeox in the background, if so that is my main rig right now with a ShuttleMax 12.0.

I bet it was! I'm going to order the production model as soon as my finances are in order.

I knew you were floored by that middle pup.

Brent,
In fact I just sent in my first review for Bass Gear Magazine this week. It'll be in issue #4 I believe. It was a Tom Clement bass. So, look for more stuff there too.

Jack,
there is a whole bunch of video online from the Phil Brown gig, unfortunately much of it has very mediocre sound quality. Hard to really hear the bass, and they spend way too much time focused on the freakin' guitar player!

I knew you were floored by that middle pup. You called it the P-BASS killer...

About that... let's not let that get out of hand. No one is going to "kill the P Bass". It was a sensationalistic way of saying "this sounds just like a P Bass". Journalists are notorious mud slingers, it's how we get the ratings, (I'm just like Glenn Beck) so don't think I'm suggesting this will "kill the p bass" or that I would even want it to. I have 3 of them, (and lust for a few more) and they are dear to my heart. I will reiterate that the middle pickup on the Big Al and HSS pretty much duplicates the function of the P texture, but it certainly has it's own recognizable quality. I'm sure I'd know the difference in a blindfold test. Let's just say it rocks and leave it at that.
